Kumar Sangakkara is Extremely Messy, Would Love to Have Him at Home Now: Yehali Sangakkara
Kumar Sangakkara always kept cricket away from home and were prepared for life beyond the sport. Wife Yehali therefore says life after retirement won't be tough.
Fans around the world may be sad to see Kumar Sangakkara bid farewell to the sport. Wife Yehali though isn't complaining and feels she and her husband had been preparing for his retirement for a considerable period of time.
In an interview on Sony Six - the official broadcasters of the Sri Lanka vs India series -- on Friday, Yehali revealed unknown secrets about the iconic cricketer. (2nd Test, Day 2 Blog | Scorecard)
"He is an extremely messy person, the messiest on earth," she said with a smile on her face. "But he loves to cook and absolutely loves making pasta at home." (Also read: Sangakkara felicitated by BCCI | Clarke and Sangakkara - tale of two greats sailing towards sunset)
Sangakkara will have all the time to pursue his culinary ambitions now that he is bringing an end to a career spanning 15 years. The transition from the cricket field to a full-time family man though hardly intimidates Yehali.
"We never discussed cricket at home and always made sure there was life away from the sport at home," she said. "Conversations revolved around kids and made sure there was life beyond the sport."
Yehali though feels that Sangakkara will still take some time adjusting to being at home.
"Kumar is a very relaxed, open sort of person. He has never demanded much. (But) He will have to get used to our routine now," she said. "He will of course still play some cricket for a year or two."
Fans have gathered in huge numbers to say their byes to Sangakkara at the P Sara Oval in Colombo. Yehali on Thursday was seen interacting with a few and even took a light-hearted interview of an Aussie who claimed to be her husband's biggest fan Down Under. (Read more here)
