Dale Steyn, Jacques Kallis fit for first ODI against India

Cricket South Africa says Dale Steyn is fit again after a side strain and Jacques Kallis' sprained finger has also healed.

Dale SteynFast bowler Dale Steyn and allrounder Jacques Kallis have recovered from minor injuries to be available for selection for South Africa's first one-day international against India at the Wanderers on Thursday. (Click here for full coverage of India's tour of South Africa)

Cricket South Africa says Steyn is fit again after a side strain and Kallis' sprained finger has also healed. CSA says the pair rejoined the squad on Tuesday ahead of the first of three ODI games against India, the top-ranked team and world champion in the 50-over format. South Africa coach Russell Domingo says the three games against India are "a big gauge for us ... we need to see where we are going." (Jacques Kallis: A player South Africa deserved)

South Africa have lost two of their last three ODI series, including an historic first defeat by Pakistan. India have won their last four.
