Multi-Sports Indoor Complex to come up in Jammu

Jammu the winter capital city would now have its first multi-sports Indoor Complex at M.A. Stadium with an aim to give best sports infrastructure for the growth of the sports activity in Jammu and Kashmir.
Multi-sports Indoor complex is coming up at M.A. stadium in Jammu under Urban Sports Infrastructure Development Scheme of Government of India, Minister for Medical Education and Sports, R.S. Chib said here.
Chib, who was inspecting proposed site of Indoor complex at M.A. Stadium here on Friday, said the multipurpose complex will be finished within less than one and half years.
The Minister said the Centre has released Rs 6 crore for construction of the complex being raised over a land of 9 Kanal (Over one Acre of land).
Besides, some financial spending will be shared by the state Sports Council, he informed.
Detailing about this two storied multisport complex, the Minister said the building will house 4 suites, 16 rooms, dormitories, changing room, short stay accommodation for outstate players.
The complex will facilitate games like squash, gymnastics, wrestling, martial art, badminton, basket ball and will be one of the best Indoor sports complex in the region, he said.
Elaborating on Omar Government's keenness to overhaul sporting facilities in the state, Chib said the sports infrastructure is being revitalized and upgraded with a tremendous support from the Union Sports Ministry.
"We are trying our bit to provide ample sports infrastructure besides ensuring growth of lesser known sporting disciplines having potential in the state", the Minister asserted.
He said the government is focusing on unearthing young talents as sports have a prospective to foster a positive social change besides improving health standards.
