Mentor Sachin Tendulkar heaped praise on Mumbai Indians, who crushed Chennai Super Kings by 41 runs on Sunday to win their second Indian Premier League crown at the Eden Gardens.
Tendulkar was a part of the playing XI when Mumbai won the title back in 2013. Mumbai had defeated Chennai. Two years later as mentor, the Little Master has been a key part of the team's star-studded backroom staff. (Ponting Overshadows Tendulkar as Mumbai Clinch Second Crown)
"This has been a fantastic result. We batted really well ... the way Rohit Sharma and Lendl Simmons laid the foundation for Ambati Rayudu and Kieron Pollard," Tendulkar said.
"It has been great fun. In spite of early challenges, we stuck together, worked really hard and executed our plans. It's all about how you stay together in tough times." Tendulkar said he felt blessed to return to the iconic Eden Gardens, where his name still creates an awe.
"I feel blessed. How can you complain when people love you so much!" said the Little Master, who retired from international cricket in November 2013.
Tendulkar is reportedly planning a T20 league like a veterans tournament in golf and tennis.
