David Warner continued his blistering form in the Indian Premier League with an explosive 91 off 55 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders. He narrowly missed what would have been his 3rd Indian Premier League ton. Sunrisers Hyderabad had an opening stand of 130 from 14.2 overs. (SCORECARD | BLOG)
After being invited to bat by the KKR captain Gautam Gambhir, the Sunrisers got off to a solid start with both Warner and Shikhar Dhawan pushing the singles.
Gambhir gave the new ball to new recruit Johan Botha. The South African spinner kept Warner quiet in the first couple of overs but the Sunrisers captain decided to chance his arm against the fast bowlers. He took on Morne Morkel first and belted him over covers.
That broke the shackles for Hyderabad and Warner's opening partner, a much sedate Shikhar Dhawan too joined in the party.
Warner reached his 19th IPL fifty in just 36 deliveries and went ballistic on KKR's star spinner Sunil Narine. Yusuf Pathan also, received the same treatment when the offie vanished to various parts of the park.
The Warner-Dhawan century stand put Hyderabad on course for a massive total against the defending champions.
