Finch underwent a successful surgery on his left hamstring in Melbourne on Tuesday and will now be out of action for 12 weeks. (Mumbai Indians Looking for Finch's Replacement)
Cricket Australia Physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said: "After returning to Australia injured from the IPL, Aaron had scans that confirmed a high grade hamstring injury. As such, Aaron was assessed by a surgeon who felt that he would have a better outcome with surgery. Aaron subsequently had surgery yesterday that has gone well. Aaron will now commence his rehabilitation and we expect that rehabilitation to take up to 12 weeks."
The Aussie batsman limped out of the field after he hurt his left hamstring while taking a single during a match against Rajasthan Royals in Ahmedabad on April 14. He looked to be in deep pain as he was helped off the ground by Mumbai Indians' support staff.
Finch has played three matches this season for Mumbai - his fifth IPL franchise - and scored 23 runs at an average of 11.50. He is also an overseas player for English county defending champions Yorkshire.
