Following Kings XI Punjab's loss to Rajasthan Royals in their Indian Premier League opener on Friday, Australian cricket and NDTV expert Dean Jones said that Punjab skipper George Bailey needs to promote himself up the order.
"I think Bailey needs to go up and bat at no. 3 or 4 and drop Glenn Maxwell down a little," said Jones.
Bailey, himself, conceded that the tinkering of his batting order cost KXIP the game on Friday. Chasing 151, Punjab had send 'pinch-hitter' Axar Patel ahead of David Miller at no. 4. Patel scored with 31 off 34 balls and Punjab lost the game by 26 runs.
"It's all nice if you're one-down at the end of 10 overs with Maxwell coming in. But, all in all, they got their batting line-up wrong yesterday," Dean Jones added.
The former Aussie also lavished praise on the Rajasthan Royals for their win.
"It was a good win for Rajasthan who played without Shane Watson. They're a professional unit and they know what to do. They fielded very well," he said.
Rajasthan Royals next face Delhi Daredevils in Delhi while Kings XI Punjab go up against Mumbai Indians in Mumbai on Sunday.
