West Indies' mystery spinner Sunil Narine underwent a bowling test at Chennai's Sri Ramachandra Medical College on Thursday. The bowler was sidelined for chucking and the Board of Control for India has remained adamant he participates in further tests if he has to play IPL 8 for the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Narine, who was not part of the West Indies squad for World Cup 2015, had previously said that he underwent tests in England and has sought clearance from the International Cricket Council. BCCI though has remained firm ahead of the eighth edition of the Indian Premier League, which starts on April 8 when defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders face off against Mumbai Indians. "There is no rule which says that once a bowler gets cleared by a lab, he can't go through another round of testing to prove himself," BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya said recently. The 26-year-old Trinidad bowler has claimed 67 wickets in the IPL since being he was roped in by Kolkata Knight Riders in 2012. In the last edition, he played a key role for the side and his 21 wickets helped the franchise win the title for the second time.
