Rohit Sharma has made his way back into the India ODI team after a long injury lay-off. The selectors named the squad for the last two ODIs against Sri Lanka. Shikhar Dhawan has been rested. India have an unbeatable 3-0 lead in the five-match series. (Dhoni to Miss First Test vs Australia)
Virat Kohli will continue to lead India as MS Dhoni will sit out due to a thumb injury. Dhoni will also miss the Brisbane Test later in December first week. (Full Coverage of India vs Sri Lanka)
Dhawan has been rested after scoring a century and two fifty-plus scores in the series while Robin Uthappa has been given a chance after a good show in the IPL. (Sangakkara Going Home)
All-rounder Kedar Jadhav, who has done very well for Maharashtra in the Ranji Trophy in recent years and scored some good knocks in the IPL, is expected to make his India debut. (India Rule Sri Lanka)
Ishant Sharma, who could only bowl four overs in the third ODI against Sri Lanka, is suffering from back stiffness and therefore misses out.
Sri Lanka, who have been outplayed in every match so far, are bringing in Dinesh Chandimal, Lahiru Thirimanne, Ajantha Mendis and Shaminda Eranga as the visitors aim to salvage pride in the last two games in Kolkata (November 13) and Ranchi (November 16).
Kumar Sangakkara, out of form by his lofty standards, is being sent back home. Sangakkara will be joined by Dhammika Prasad, Suraj Randiv and Upul Tharanga on the flight back to Colombo as Sri Lanka bring in fresh and experienced legs for the remaining two ODIs.
Meanwhile, the Indian selectors have also picked the squad for the upcoming Test tour of Australia. Dhoni will miss the first Test in Brisbane starting December 4 and Kohli will lead. Suresh Raina is back in the Test fold for the first time since 2012.
