Lewis Hamilton has drawn flak for spraying champagne over a hostess after winning the Chinese Grand Prix on Sunday.
According to an article in Sydney Morning Herald, as Hamilton stood on the top tier of the Shanghai podium, he released a torrent of champagne into the face of the hostess to celebrate his victory. This was the second time he has such a thing in the same season.
The act has been called 'selfish' and 'inconsiderate' by anti-sexism campaigners. They say such a gesture indicates the wider culture of sexism in the motor racing world.
"It is surely a very difficult position to be a grid girl and she would have had little option but to stand there and take it," Roz Hardie, the chief executive of anti-sexism group, Object was quoted as saying by MailOnline.
"That is something of which he should be aware. But instead, he appears to have abused her position," Roz added.
