England ended a run of 10 Tests without a win by defeating India by 266 runs in the third Test at Southampton on Thursday. (Match report | Day 5 Highlights)
It was their first Test victory since they beat Australia by 74 runs in Durham nearly a year ago to clinch an unassailable 3-0 lead in the 2013 Ashes in England.
But England's next 10 Tests yielded seven defeats and three draws, with their most recent reverse the 95-run loss to India in the second Test at Lord's.
However, this win saw England level the five-match series at 1-1 ahead of the fourth Test at Old Trafford starting on August 7.
This recent winless run was far from being England's worst -- that came when they went 18 Tests without a victory from 1987-88.
