Binny's debut 78 and an all-round effort by Kumar helped India secure a draw in the first Test against England at Trent Bridge. Catch all the highlights here (Scorecard):
That's it from this match. The second Test starts at Lord's from July 17.
James Anderson is Man-of-the-Match for his 81 and four wickets in the match.
Indian skipper MS Dhoni is pleased with Stuart Binny's debut: "We haven't had a seaming allrounder but Stuart Binny can be someone who can really contribute for us in the future. I don't regret not playing R Ashwin because there was no help for the spinner."
England skipper Alastair Cook is not at all impressed with the Trent Bridge pitch: "It's a tough job being a groundsman and he's admitted he's got it wrong but you have to adapt and we adapted well. As captain, you just had to try things and that's all you can do. When it was reversing and the ball was hard, it became a bit more even."
21:35 IST: And the first Test has been drawn. India finished 391/9 (declared) as the opening match suffered because of a dull Trent Bridge track. After securing a first-innings lead of 39, England had India on the mat last afternoon, before a fightback, led by debutant Stuart Binny put paid to all of Cook's hopes. The match was special for the Karnataka all-rounder, who cracked a fluent half-century on debut, and also for Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who hit two fifties and picked up a fifer. Murali Vijay (146) and Joe Root (154 not out) were the only centurions, while there were last-wicket stands of over 100 by both teams, with England's Root and James Anderson posting 198 for the 10th wicket, a world record for that position.
21:28 IST: So England are having fun now. Cook has decided to switch over to medium pace and believe it or not, the skipper has a WICKET! Ishant Sharma flicked one down the leg side and Prior held on to the edge. A loud appeal and the umpire gives him out. That also means Cook might have to come out and bat soon! India are 378/9, lead by 348 runs.

21:26 IST: Gary Ballance is on for his first over in Test cricket and unlike his captain, he has made an immediate impression; he is getting it to bounce and even turn slightly off the rough. India are 387/8, leading by 348 runs.
21:23 IST: England skipper Alastair Cook, after failing with the bat, is now trying to make amends! He has brought himself on in the attack. Prior to this, he had bowled only one over in Tests. Cook has six first class wickets for Essex, with best figures of 3/13.
21:12 IST: Faced with a very subcontinent-like Trent Bridge, India scored over 400 in the first innings and are 380/8 in the second; only the third instance when they have scored over 350 in both innings.
21:04 IST: Kumar continues his dream run at Trent Bridge, brings up his second fifty of the match. India are 371/8 and lead by 332 runs, with all hopes now gone for England. And there is no way, the tourists are going to allow England a bat here, unless they are bowled out.

20:48 IST: What a match Bhuvneshwar Kumar has had; his maiden Test fifty, maiden Test fifer and now he is playing another solid knock in the second innings as India keep closing the door on England.
20:28 IST: Tea - India are 347/8, with a lead of 308. India's session out and out, thanks to a heroic half-century on debut by Stuart Binny (78). It's safe to say now that the tourists are on safe ground, having taken a massive lead. Binny was well assisted by Kumar (31 not out), after Anderson had shown England a glimpse of hope when he removed Jadeja. However, the hosts' pacers found no support from the Trent Bridge pitch and India raced away to safety.

20:19 IST: Moeen Ali, who now has his best bowling figures in Test cricket, bowled with five men around the bat to Ishant Sharma. England know they have lost an opportunity to get off to a winning start in the five-match series.
20:14 IST: WICKET! Stuart Binny's gone, for 78. He misses out on a hundred on debut as he falls lbw to Moeen Ali but his knock has helped India avoid certain defeat. With the lead over 300 and time running out, England would have given up all hopes of gunning for victory. India 340/8, lead by 301 runs.
20:06 IST: India now lead by 294 runs and there are less than 40 overs remaining in the day. The only point of interest now is whether Binny gets to a hundred on debut. He has plenty of time to get there.
19:39 IST: FOUR! Binny reverse-swept Moeen Ali to the boundary with India now deciding to pick up pace and stretch the lead against England. Time is fast running out for the hosts to try and win the opening match.

19:32 IST: Stuart Binny scores a half-century on debut. This has been gutsy knock, with India staring at defeat at one point. Now, the tourists appear to be headed to safety, thanks also to his partnership with Jadeja. What a year this has been for Binny, who also recorded the best bowling figures by an Indian in ODIs (6/14 vs Bangladesh). India are 278/7 and lead by 239
congratulations stuart on scoring a half century on debut. Imp knock under pressure. would be gr8 if u can double it up. @BCCI #TheBigTest

19:25 IST: India are 267/7 and have a 228-run lead. England would feel that the match is slipping away from their hands quickly now. Looks like we have a draw on our hands.
19:22 IST: There never was any doubt about Bhuvneshwar Kumar's batting talent but the last innings and this ( so far an unbeaten 5 off 19 balls) have shown he can be trusted to be solid down the order. Binny has looked assured and the next hour or so will be a test to see how well he farms strike with the tail-end. India lead by 224 runs.
19:04 IST: India lead by 211 runs and there 54 overs in the day. On-air experts feel the tourists should be safe if they bat for another 10 overs. With Binny looking good, Kumar in the middle and Shami yet to come in, England could be looking at a draw here.

england keeping interest alive. can india last another ten overs?

18:55 IST: WICKET! James Anderson has struck with the new ball; he got Jadeja to edge, which was taken by Matt Prior as India slipped to 249/7, with a lead of only 210 runs.

18:45 IST: FOUR! Just a punch from Jadeja and the new ball flies off the bat to the fence. The new ball has gone for runs in this Test match and England will need to be careful about what line they bowl to well-set, naturally aggressive batsmen.

18:42 IST: England have taken the new ball right away after 80 overs, with india on 244/6 and lead by 205 runs. James Anderson comes in to the attack to try and cause some damage with the brand new cherry. These will be testing times for the two Indian batsmen.
18:35 IST: The Indian lead has now gone past 200, with both Binny and Jadeja putting up an impressive performance with the bat in helpful conditions for seamers at Trent Bridge.
18:32 IST: Good partnership between Jadeja and Binny as they bring up their 50-run stand soon after lunch. India are 238/6 and lead by 199 runs.
17:45 IST: Lunch - India are 230/7, lead by 191 runs. With a Test match to save, India got off to the worst possible start in the first session of the final day, losing Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane to Stuart Broad. MS Dhoni tried to battle hard after the setbacks but he too perished to Liam Plunkett. Ravindra Jadeja (18 not out) took his own time to get off the mark but dropped anchor once debutant Stuart Binny (26 not out) came out all guns blazing in the second innings after a failure in the first. India are now desperate to stretch their lead as far as possible, once play resumes after lunch.

17:36 IST: Lunch has of course been pushed back after the day's play started 15 minutes late. India have now taken a lead of 178 and will be keen to push past 200 in the second session.
17:21 IST: After his first innings failure, Binny has looked a lot more confident in the second. The debutant has paired with Jadeja to stall England after they made serious inroads into the Indian batting line-up, removing Kohli, Rahane and Dhoni. India are 209/6, lead by 170.

17:01 IST: From dominating the first Test to getting to a position where they could have easily drawn to a scenario, where the Indian dressing-room is secretly praying for rain, this match has come a long way. However, traditionally, India have won only one first Test of the series, back in 1986 at Lord's. This one seems to be going out of India's grasp as well.
16:54 IST: Not having scored for 37 balls, Jadeja had had enough and he came down the pitch to hoist Anderson over his head. FOUR! India now lead by 151 and have four wickets remaining.
16:45 IST: WICKET! India are certainly looking on course for a defeat in the opening Test. Liam Plunkett came in to the attack and castled Dhoni with the first ball of his spell. India 184/6 and lead by only 145 runs.
© AP
16:36 IST: After facing 24 balls, Jadeja is yet to get off the mark; he cannot afford to get too bogged down for the left-hander likes to play his shots and if he lets England keep attacking him, trouble could come looking very soon.
16:30 IST: Can Dhoni lead from the front and bat India to safety with with the lower order? He is experienced and has seen plenty of such situations, with India battling to save a Test match. How Jadeja and later Binny bat with him will be crucial. India are 179/5, with a lead of 140.
© AP
16:21 IST: DROPPED! Skipper drops skipper; MS Dhoni edged Broad and Cook dropped a regulation chance at first slip. How costly will that be for England? India 178/5, lead by 139.
16:10 IST: With both overnight batsmen back in the hut, Dhoni and Jadeja will have to send a message to the dressing-room; more so after Sourav Ganguly pointed out tentative Kohli looked. The star batsman was out cheaply in both innings and that should be cause for concern for the tourists, who have relied heavily on him for a few years now.
16:02 IST: WICKET! India are losing the plot here and it's Stuart Broad leading the charge for England; after packing off Kohli, Broad knocked off Rahane as India slipped to 173/5 with a lead of 134. Jadeja at the crease with Dhoni.

once again stuart broad does it for england. one of england's top four in the last few years (cook, pietersen, anderson, broad)
- Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) July 13, 2014
15:51 IST: WICKET! Broad strikes to remove Kohli lbw for 8. There was a hint of reverse swing; Kohli must have been expecting the ball to be moved away from him. India are 168/4, with a lead of 129 as Dhoni walks in to join Rahane.
15:45 IST: Play commences with India on 167/3, a lead of 128 runs. England will look to James Anderson and Stuart Broad to exploit the overcast conditions and set India back
15:30 IST: After some overnight rain, play has been delayed by 15 minutes. The final day will start at 15.45 IST after the umpires had a look at conditions. Can England snare a couple of quick wickets and put India under pressure? Or will the tourists work their way to a draw?
In a five-Test series, a draw in the first game will not be a bad result for Team India. This Indian team is relatively short on experience and is haunted by the fact that it was thrashed 4-0 in its last tour of England in 2011. England, too, are not the same unit it were three years ago. In many ways, both teams are in rebuilding mode and will probably take the draw as a fair result.
But cricket throws up surprises and India, the world's 50-over champions, can very well do some dramatic things especially when Kohli is at the crease and skipper Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja and Stuart Binny are waiting in the wings. India - 167 for three -- have a lead of 128 runs and if the can race to a 300-run lead by the first drinks break in the post-lunch session, Dhoni may just push his luck.

India have the bowlers to exploit a weary pitch. Mohammed Shami is a fine exponent of the reverse swing. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ishant Sharma are confident after getting wickets in the first innings, but India may just miss a specialist spinner in Ravichandran Ashwin.
The Nottingham Test has been highlighted by superb rearguard batting. If Murali Vijay and Joe Root played their roles as proper batsmen, bowlers have come to the party with their bats too. England number 11 James Anderson enjoyed a remarkable batting first on Saturday as he and Root shared an all-time Test record 10th-wicket stand of 198. The pair surpassed the previous best of 163 as England were bowled out for 496 in their first innings.
"I had really good fun today and it's probably the first day I have really enjoy batting," fast bowler Anderson told reporters. Root and Anderson's stand also meant it was the first time in Test history that the last-wicket partnerships of both teams had reached three figures in the same game, following Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami's alliance of 111 on Thursday.

Even though all three results are possible on Sunday, the Trent Bridge Test will still have many things to remember.
