Smiles came back on the faces of countless Indian fans as they finally saw Team India pose a strong challenge to England in their own backyard. India amassed 304/6 against England in the 2nd ODI in Cardiff - winning the match by 133 runs - as a brave Suresh Raina stole the spotlight with his 100 off 75 balls. However, no credit can be taken away from skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni's resilient knock of 52 and his 144-run partnership with Raina.  (Match highlights | Scorecard)
Dhoni and Raina put on India's 3rd century stand for the fifth wicket in England. The pair had earlier put on 169 at Lord's on September 11, 2011 while Rahul Dravid and Yuvraj Singh had combined for an unbroken stand of 131 at the same venue on June 29, 2002.
This was Raina's fourth ODI ton and also his first in England. Infact this is the first time he has reached this landmark outside the sub-continent. His last hundred was against Sri Lanka on January 13, 2010. His personal tally is 1098 in 29 games with an average of 47.73.
Meanwhile, Dhoni became the third Indian skipper to play 100 or more ODIs overseas. The other two are Mohammad Azharuddin (116) and Sourav Ganguly (110). His innings of 52 was his 55th ODI fifty and the tenth against England. The Indian skipper has a solid average of 64.80 in ODIs this year with a strike-rate of 93.64. He has scored in excess of 40 in all his innings in 2014 with 40, 56, 50, 79 not out, 47 and 52 to his name.
