Man of the Match Ishant Sharma: "The way our batsmen played in the 1st innings, Ajinkya played really well in the first innings, that gave us the momentum. Also the way Vijay played, Jaddu and Bhuvi also. Cricket is a great leveller, the way MS bhai (Dhoni) handled the team, the way he keeps on motivating the guys. I think all these wickets are not for me, it is only for the captain, he told me that you are tall enough, you have to try the bouncer."
Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni: "It is a memorable win for India, not many players have played Test cricket in England, their approach was brilliant, it was a fantastic performance. It was a crucial toss, there was something for the fast bowlers, I think the openers and No. 3, it was not bowled to them, they made the England bowlers bowl to them, you would want the opposition to bowl more than 90 overs, because then even when the tailenders come, the whole batting department is doing really well."
"I think that we learnt from the 2011 series it is important to stay in the game till the third day, because then our spinners can come into the game. That was something that was needed, but we couldn't in 2011."
"Jadeja has to play just that kind of game, I think the more Test cricket he plays, the more he will become a proper Test batsman. I think his technique is very good, but he is someone who doubts himself more than most. I think we have been cribbing about the lack of quick bowling allrounder, but we have to use the resources we have."
"First session today showed us that we had to be at our best, at that point what happens is you start doubting yourself. That last over before lunch, Ishant did not want to bowl short, I just told him he has to and turned away. Was a fantastic performance."
"I actually wanted Virat at slip to stand a bit wide, standing up is a bit of a lottery whether it will come to the hand or not, I thought if the batsman steps out then I will stand up, otherwise stay back."
England captain Alastair Cook: "It is a tough defeat, I think we have to give India a lot of credit, they have outbowled and outbatted us."
About the green pitch: "Last innings as well, the pitch was turning and bouncing, good toss to win. Credit to India, they left very well."
"It is definitely an issue of confidence, and getting over the finish line, there's a group of player desperate to win for England. It's going to take a lot of determination to turn this around. A lot of our performances have been by the younger guys, that's good for English cricket. Yes, the older guys are not playing as well as their record suggest, same for myself, I have to start scoring runs as well."
On Prior: "He's got a serious amount of talent and at the moment I think he's the best wicketkeeper-batsman in the country, every single guy has to earn his place in the side, he's a fighter, the sort of guy you would want in the dressing room."
Cook after getting a bit emotional towards the end: "I'm trying my heart out to turn this around. First and foremost, I will have to start scoring runs. Recent past hasn't been kind to me, but we have won some games as captain as well."

19:24 (IST): Ishant Sharma leads the Indian team off the ground. What a win this has been, England have capitulated in some fashion here. 19:17 (IST): OUT! Finally, INDIA WIN OVERSEAS! Jadeja bowls it outside off, Anderson pushes it towards covers and takes off for a single which is never on. Jadeja runs across and scores a direct hit at the striker's end to catch Anderson way short of the crease. A fitting end again.
19:13 (IST): This drinks break did not take as long as it was taking before. India surely want to get that last wicket quickly now! They don't want to delay things any further! Plunkett taking all his time to get ready. England 222/9 now.
19:11 (IST): When India beat England at Lord's in 1986, their only win at the venue, Dilip Vengsarkar made 126 not out and 33. Surely, Ishant Sharma and Bhuvneshwar will walk off heroes from here if India win again.
19:03 (IST): James Anderson is the last man in. This is an absolute wreckage job from Ishant Sharma. India a wicket away from making history at Lord's. These are Ishant's career-best figures. 7/71 right now.
19:02 (IST): OUT! Ishant Sharma takes seven! Broad c Dhoni b Ishant 9. Bowls it short again on middle and leg, Broad gloves it down the leg side. Dhoni takes a tumbling catch and appeals. The umpire gives it out. This is career best figures for Ishant Sharma! England 216/9, staring at defeat now.
18:58 (IST): Joe Root and English captain Alastair Cook look on at the ground in a complete state of disappointment and shock. Meanwhile, Stuart Broad gets a boundary off Ishant. Not a pretty looking shot, says Wasim Akram on TV. It came off a top edge, maybe Broad was lucky there. England 216/8.
18:55 (IST): Broad and Plunkett have batted 19 balls between themselves after the wicket carnage. England 212/8. Can they save this Test match for England? We still have about 51 overs remaining in the day though. India in with a great chance to make history. It will be their first win at Lord's since 1986 and their second win ever at Lord's if they are to take the remaining two wickets here.
18:50 (IST): This could be India's first win on English soil after 7 yrs and 1st win at overseas conditions after 3 yrs. England struggling at 207/8 right now, they need 112 more runs to win. Broad 2*, Plunkett 0*.

18:37 (IST): OUT! Stokes c Pujara b Ishant 0. FOUR DUCKS FOR STOKES! Shorter length outside off, Stokes goes for the pull shot. He is not in control of it and the ball lobs towards mid-wicket. Pujara takes a good catch. India are celebrating here. Yet another duck for Stokes! England 201/7 now and Ishant Sharma gets a five-wicket haul at Lord's.
18:34 (IST): Ishant is working so hard with the ball that he is sometimes straying ahead of the line to bowl no-balls. Still doing very well for India though. England 201/6.

18:28 (IST): OUT! Prior c Vijay b Ishant 12. Shorter outside off, Prior again takes on the short ball and pulls it. The ball goes straight to Vijay at deep mid-wicket. The Indians are ecstatic and Dhoni leaps in joy. This was the first ball Ishant came round the wicket and he got success. The game keeps moving ahead. England 198/6 need 121 more runs to win now. And four wickets for our man, Ishant Sharma! The second new ball is available now after Ishant's over.
18:27 (IST): India's plan to bowl short is not working at the moment. Root and Prior are easily pulling it away for 1s, 2s and even 4s off Ishant. ENG 198/5. India should be looking to hand the job over to Shami and Bhuvneshwar now after taking the new ball.
18:23 (IST): Jadeja bowls a maiden over and the runs stop flowing for a while. ENG 193/5.
18:20 (IST): Dhoni goes back to Plan 'B' and brings Jadeja back on. ENG 193/5. India should be looking to take the new ball, says Rahul Dravid on TV.
18:17 (IST): Joe Root pulls Ishant away for a quick single. Root and Prior were thinking for a second as the throw came from Shami and there was a little mix-up for a probable run-out. And on the next delivery, Prior hits Ishant for four! Superb stuff! ENG 193/5 now, need 126 more runs to win.
18:14 (IST): The first over after lunch yields 10 runs for England (183/5) as Root hits Shami for consecutive boundaries. Just 136 more runs needed now. We are into a fascinating phase, says Harsha Bhogle on TV. And Matt Prior gets England another boundary, this time it comes off Ishant. England 187/5 now. Require 132 more to win.
18:12 (IST): The Indian seamers should try and mix their deliveries a little bit against Prior as he is known to struggle against the short ball. And just as we speak, Root gets a boundary to give England a move-on. He moves on to 57 with that and England to 179/5.
18:08 (IST): Matt Prior comes in to bat now as play resumes after lunch. ENG 173/5. Four overs to go before India can take the new ball.
17:40 (IST): But with the target only 146 runs away, this match is far from over. India will be looking to take the attack and keep the pressure on. England on the other hand will hope to be positive as the wicket has played true. As Ravi Shastri would say, all three results possible. Do join us for an enthralling second session.
17:34 (IST): That's another session that has had a good fight between the bat and ball. England did all the good work to see through all the Indian bowlers scoring runs at their own paces. India tried hard and just when it looked that the hosts will get away, Ishant struck to dismiss Ali and Indians had a sigh of relief.

17:31 (IST): OUT! Moeen c Pujara b Ishant 39. Shorter length on middle, Ali takes his eyes off that one. The ball goes off the gloves and Pujara takes the catch at short leg. What a wicket for India at the stroke of Lunch and Ishant has bowled well and he gets the wicket. England 173/5 vs India at lunch, need 146 more runs to win.
17:30 (IST): If England go wicketless, it will be a good session for them, says Sourav Ganguly on TV. England have added 68 runs so far in this session.
17:25 (IST): Joe Root's record at Lord's in his 8 innings reads 40, 71, 6, 180, 200*, 15, 13 and now 51*. Moeen and Root have now added 100 runs for the 5th wicket. ENG 172/4 require 147 more runs to win.

17:16 (IST): Ravindra Jadeja's best chance to take a wicket right now will be that of Moeen Ali. He is making things interesting against the left-hander with his level of spin. ENG 156/4 require 163 runs more to win.

17:06 (IST): Did it carry? Jadeja bowls it on off, Ali comes forward to flick it. The ball goes off the inside edge towards leg slip where Kohli tries to catch the ball. ENG 152/4.

17:02 (IST): FOUR! Good shot! A touch shorter outside off from Bhuvneshwar, Ali guides it through the gully region for a boundary to the point fence. ENG 151/4 now.
17:01 (IST): Ravindra Jadeja has been lacking variation in his bowling today and England are looking very comfortable, says Wasim Akram on TV. Sanjay Manjrekar says Jadeja is not making any big changes in the angle of his release. Jadeja bowls another maiden. ENG 147/4.
16:51 (IST): Joe Root places it nicely on the off-side off Bhuvneshwar for four and moves on to 35! Good shot! Bhuvneshwar bowls it outside off, Root comes down the wicket and punches it through covers for a boundary. That was really well played. ENG 146/4. And so, 41 runs have been added now in this partnership for today. England need 173 more runs to win.
16:44 (IST): India will be hoping to get their hands on the new ball in order to take wickets. About 17 overs for that to happen though. ENG 141/4. Root 30*, Moeen 30*.

16:34 (IST): The current Root and Ali partnership has moved on to 68 runs now and they have been at the crease for 185 balls now. India are looking for answers here right now, they need wickets. ENG 140/4. There are 62 overs left in the day and the match could even end in a stalemate draw.
16:28 (IST): Root doesn't time it as well for a boundary but he gets a nice triple off Shami! ENG 140/4, need 179 runs more. If India don't get a win here, they will keep thinking of the times they were in winning positions like at Wellington and Johannesburg recently overseas, and couldn't force a win, says Harsha Bhogle on TV. India are looking for their first overseas win since 2011.
16:26 (IST): Mohammad Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are keeping the flow of runs shortened here. India don't seem to be getting any luck with wickets though. ENG 137/4 still.
16:16 (IST): Pace from both ends now as Bhuvneshwar and Shami take charge of the Indian bowling! ENG 136/4. Moeen 30*, Root 25*, England need 183 more runs to win. Shami and Bhuvneshwar bowl a maiden each.

16:05 (IST): The floodlights are on already at Lord's. It may help the Indian seamers get some swing and possibly some wickets! ENG 130/4. Oh and then, Shikhar Dhawan brought in to bowl in the hope of getting wickets.

15:58 (IST): Moeen and Root keeping the flow of runs going for England. Nice triple off Ishant now from Moeen! ENG 124/4. It also brings up the 50-run partnership between the two batsmen.
15:48 (IST): Ishant on fire! Joe Root gets a strong edge as it goes towards Dhawan at slip but falls short! ENG 116/4. Is Dhawan standing too deep?
15:40 (IST): Another four from Moeen. This time Ishant draws him forward and produces the edge. The ball keeps a touch low and gets an edge through Jadeja at third slip for a boundary to third man. ENG 115/4.
15:35 (IST): Moeen Ali hits Ishant Sharma for four in the very first over of the day. Well driven! Fuller outside off, Ali gets forward and drives it through the covers. The timing is good and he gets a boundary to get his score moving along. ENG 109/4, need 210 runs more.
15:32 (IST): Ishant Sharma to bowl the first over of the day. England 105/4.
15:20 (IST): Hello everyone and a very warm welcome for the coverage of the final day of the second Test between England and India at Lord's. The match, not for the first time, hangs in balance at the moment with England needing further 214 runs and India needing more 6 wickets to win an Overseas Test after an exile of almost 3 years. With both the teams not in winning-Test form, it remains to be seen as to how they go about their business.
England face an uphill battle to save the second Test after slumping to 105 for four at the close of Sunday's fourth day in pursuit of 319 to beat India. Day 5 just can't get better than this.ÂÂ

India legend Sourav Ganguly has rung the five minute bell at Lord's #EngvInd https://t.co/uWWq6Hzn7h
- Lord's Ground (@HomeOfCricket) July 21, 2014
A lot is at stake for Mahendra Singh Dhoni's Test team in transition. A few of them are already showing signs of changing over from boys to men. Some are doing this with a pure classical approach - Murali Vijay and Ajinkya Rahane - and some with street-smartness - Ravindra Jadeja and Stuart Binny. The overall effect has been rather good. India eye their first Test away from home since 2011.
England, chasing a first Test win in 10 matches after series defeats by Australia and Sri Lanka, lost three wickets in 20 balls to leave them teetering at 72 for four on Day 4 (Sunday). Joe Root (14) and Moeen Ali (15) ensured there was no further damage, and will resume on Monday needing a further 214 runs for victory as England eye their second-highest successful fourth-innings chase and biggest at Lord's.
England's target is at least 50 runs more that they would have liked, but a thrilling 99-run, eighth-wicket stand between Jadeja and Bhuvneshwar Kumar took India's lead past the 300 mark. Jadeja's brisk 68 was his career-best and came at a time when he is in the eye of a storm for an alleged scuffle with England's most successful bowler, James Anderson at Nottingham.
"The point is you've got to turn up expecting your batsmen to get through and score the runs," England assistant coach Paul Farbrace told reporters. "We've got somebody at the crease (Moeen) who batted all day at Headingley two Test matches ago (against Sri Lanka), got a hundred against all the odds and they'd have been a lot of people on that day not expecting us to still be at the crease at 7pm (local time) and fighting for our lives."
But the man who could stand between India and victory could be Joe Root, a young man with resolve and skill. With Matt Prior and Ben Stokes both struggling for form, much rests on the shoulders of Root and Moeen should England have any hope of avoiding defeat on the final day.

Jadeja's innings could prove to be the turning point of the match. He and Bhuvneshwar Kumar put on 99 runs in 100 balls as they hit the England attack to all corners of the ground. Jadeja, frequently booed by the Lord's crowd over the 'clash' with Anderson during the drawn first match at Trent Bridge, could be Dhoni's trump card on a wearing pitch. That will really rub salt into England wounds.
"The game is really well placed. Ravindra is spinning the ball well and hopefully he can get us an early breakthrough tomorrow. The pitch is doing a lot for the spinner because of the footmarks, and they have six left-handers so it's going to be tough for them," said Murali Vijay, whose 95 in over six hours stay at the middle has been worth more than a century.
