After bowling out India for 152, England continued to keep the momentum by their side on Day 1, finishing on 113/3. Catch all highlights of the game here: (SCORECARD | Day 2 Live Blog)
23.32 (IST): STUMPS! England finish on 113/3 with Ian Bell (45 not out) leading the way for the hosts. For India, Varun Aaron finished with 2/26. Hosts still trail by 39 runs.
23.28 (IST): OUT! Varun Aaron gets his second wicket! He traps Ballance leg before the wicket for 37. (England 113/3)
23.22 (IST): Almost the third wicket! Ashwin takes what looks like a very low catch off his own bowling and appeals. The umpires take it to the TV umpire and the replays suggest the ball bounced right before Ashwin completed the catch. Bell survives.
23.00 (IST): England are starting to build a solid foundation through Bell and Ballance. The duo have added 50 runs for the third wicket. England 76/2.
22.30 (IST): Bell and Ballance have come together after the fall of the openers. India need another wicket to try and force their way through the England middle- order.
22.12 (IST): FACTOID: India have now equaled the record number of ducks in an innings.
22.10 (IST): While both Jadeja and Anderson have been let off in the Trent Bridge Test Fracas, former Indian skipper Rahul Dravid feels it was wrong to let off the England pacer without any punishment.
21.51 (IST): OUT! Varun Aaron strikes! He has sent back skipper Alastair Cook. He falls for 17, caught by Pankaj Singh. (England 36/2)
21.29 (IST): Bowled him! Sam Robson departs early! A beautiful delivery from Bhuvneshwar Kumar, pitches on length and angles into Robson who let the ball go. It turned in enough to clip the top of off stump and send Robson on his way back to the pavilion for six runs. (England 21/1)
20.45 (IST): England openers Alastair Cook and Sam Robson are out in the middle. Bhuvneshwar Kumar to begin with the new ball.

20.30 (IST): OUT! Pankaj Singh is gone! Stuart Broad has cleaned him up to dismiss India for 152. Broad ends with splendid figures of 6/25.
ÂÂ
20.28 (IST): OUT! MS Dhoni is gone! He went after Broad and took the aerial route but failed to clear Chris Jordan at deep fine leg. He goes for 71, India 152/9.

ÂÂ
20.22 (IST): FOUR! MS Dhoni moves on to 70 with a flick through mid-wicket for four off Chris Jordan. It also brings up the 150. (India 151/8)
20.13 (IST): Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the fifth batsman to record a duck in India's innings today. This is the most in a match by India.
20.05 (IST): OUT! Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been cleaned up by Stuart Broad for a duck! (India 137/8)
20.02 (IST): FIFTY for MS Dhoni! He gets there with a glorious drive through covers for four! It's his 32nd half-century in Tests. (India 133/7)
19.59 (IST): Bhuvneshwar Kumar walks in to join MS Dhoni, who is still stranded on 49.
19.57 (IST): Ashwin is gone! He pulled a short ball from Broad but can't clear Sam Robson in the deep. He departs for 40. (India 129/7).
19.32 (IST): Dhoni and Ashwin have put on a solid stand here. They've added 52 runs for the seventh wicket. (India 115/6)
19.08 (IST): There's something for India to cheer about! Ravichandran Ashwin tries to pull a short-pitched ball from Anderson and the top-edge travels beyond the boundary for a six. (India 87/6)
19.05 (IST): Talking to NDTV, former Indian cricketer Farokh Engineer has come down heavily on the way India have started at Old Trafford. Indian batsmen are throwing their wickets away. Deciding to bat first (at Old Trafford) was a joke, he says.
18.55 (IST): James Anderson has grown from strength to strength in this series. Despite the controversy involving him and Jadeja stretching longer than most would have anticipated, Anderson has been able to keep all that aside when he has been on the field with the ball in his hand. After an exceptional start in the first session, Anderson has sent his nemesis Jadeja back to keep the momentum with England.
18.51 (IST): GONE! Jadeja departs for a duck! He has been trapped in front of his stumps by Anderson right after lunch. (India 63/6)
18.45 (IST): The second session is underway with Dhoni (25) and Jadeja (0) in the middle.

18.04 (IST): Lunch! India 63/5 (25 overs) at the end of the first session. MS Dhoni (25 not out) and Ravindra Jadeja (0 not out) in the middle. Anderson 2/21, Broad 2/8, Jordan 1/8.
18.00 (IST): MS Dhoni is joined by Ravindra Jadeja in the middle.

17.56 (IST): OUT! Almost against the run of play! Just when Dhoni and Rahane were looking set to pull India completely out of the mess, Rahane has fallen. He is caught by Ian Bell at slips off Chris Jordan. (India 62/5)
17.52 (IST): Dhoni and Rahane have added 50 runs for the fifth wicket, steering the team out of the early collapse. (India 58/4)
17.38 (IST): Both Dhoni (24) and Rahane (20) have moved into the 20s. They've ducked at short balls, let the wide ones go past and have truly dug in at a critical stage. But the job is far from done as India have just 52/4 on the board. The next target will be to take India to lunch without losing any further wickets.
17.21 (IST): For those who are joining us late, here's how the Indian top-order collapsed today.
17.04 (IST): For all the criticisms that he has faced in the recent past, Alastair Cook has been spot-on with his field placements today. He has seen an extra spring in the steps of his leading fast bowlers and given them the option of having a packed slip cordon to chip away at the wickets.
16.54 (IST): What a start this has been for the hosts! Alastair Cook lost the toss but his bowlers have done a commendable job of forcing India on the back foot so early in the Test.

16.45 (IST): FACTOID: In 1952, India suffered a similar start at Leeds, losing four wickets for no runs on the board. In 1940, India were bowled out for a paltry 42!
16.40 (IST): Onus of performance is once again on the shoulders of Ajinkya Rahane. He has pulled India out of misery on multiple occasions in the series already and will need to put on his best performance once again. Anderson and Broad have their tails up after running through the Indian top-order. Rahane needs his skipper to stick around in order to form a good partnership and counter England's early surge.
16.31 (IST): Not very long ago, Indian skipper MS Dhoni was all smiles after winning the toss and opting to bat. Anderson and Broad have done exceedingly well to turn things around inside the first hour.

16.29 (IST): Turn away if you're an Indian fan! The fourth wicket is down! Pujara has edged one to Chris Jordan in the slips off Stuart Broad. (India 8/4)
16.26 (IST): Ajinkya Rahane joins Cheteshwar Pujara in the middle. India in desperate need of a big stand here.

ÂÂ
16.23 (IST): Oh dear! India in deep trouble! Virat Kohli is gone too! He suffers an identical dismissal to Vijay as he edges an Anderson delivery to Cook at first slip. (India 8/3)
16.22 (IST): Another wicket! Anderson strikes this time! Vijay is gone, caught by Cook at first slip. (India 8/2)
16.15 (IST): The ball was pitched on good length and squared up the Indian opener. Gambhir had to play at it and a thick outside edge carried comfortably to Root.

ÂÂ
16.14 (IST): OUT! Gautam Gambhir is gone! He is caught by Joe Root off Stuart Broad. (India 8/1)
16.12 (IST): FACTOID: The last time India played a Test match at Old Trafford, a young Sachin Tendulkar smashed his maiden century (first of his 100 tons) and saved a match for India.
16.09 (IST): Uneven bounce! Gambhir lets a delivery from Stuart Broad go but Buttler is beaten by the bounce as the ball runs away to the third man fence off his gloves. (India 8/0)
16.02 (IST): Gambhir is off the mark! He has started with a confident double off Stuart Broad in the second over. (India 2/0)
15.45 (IST): Gambhir returns to India's Test line-up for the first time since December 2012. This could be a huge opportunity for him to cement his spot in the side again.
15.40 (IST): MS Dhoni becomes the 1st captain in independent India to win a toss at Old Trafford. Last won by an Indian captain in 1946.
15.35 (IST): The wicket at Old Trafford looks the typical hard surface that it always is. The overcast conditions will help James Anderson continue his blistering form in the series.ÂÂ
15.32 (IST): India bring in Gautam Gambhir, Ravichandran Ashwin and Varun Aaron for Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma and Mohammed Shami.
15.30 (IST): MS Dhoni wins the toss, opts to bat vs England.
15.25 IST: The toss is expected to take place in the next ten minutes and the match will begin with a 30 minutes delay.
14:59 IST: The toss has been delayed due to a slow drizzle and consequently, the toss has been delayed. The umpires will walk out for an inspection in about 15 minutes, but the forecast for the rest of the day does not look too threatening.

Dhoni does not believe in history. Most modern captains think on similar lines. If that is the case, Dhoni should not look back at the 'hurtful' string of events of the past week that negated India's efforts to get England's leading pacer James Anderson punished for an alleged brawl with Ravindra Jadeja in the first Test at Trent Bridge on July 10. Like Sunil Gavaskar says, it's time to move on and play the game in the middle.
India have never won a Test match at Manchester. It's time to right that wrong. A win here will ensure India won't lose the series. India last played a Test match at Old Trafford in 1990. Sachin Tendulkar scored a match-saving hundred. If India's top batsmen can show that conviction and discipline, much of India's problems will get sorted. India lost the third Test at Southampton purely due to bad batting.
When the going gets tough, the tough get going, goes the saying. It's time for Virat Kohli, India's pin-up boy, to prove his mettle now. The greatest character of a sportsperson is revealed when he conquers the worst of odds. Alastair Cook admirably did that in Southampton after a string of failures. It's time for Kohli to re-establish his massive credentials. "Let's hope for Indian cricket's sake that he (Kohli) gets out of it and scores and not only scores but makes up for his first three Tests where he didn't score too many," hoped Gavaskar in an exclusive chat with NDTV on Wednesday.
Team India are facing a selection dilemma. Ravichandran Ashwin's absence has continued to baffle pundits. The off-spinner should be India's fifth specialist bowler at Manchester. Ashwin's ability with the bat at No. 7 is also a great plus. Gautam Gambhir will be sniffing his chance at the top because India can ill afford to give a scrappy Shikhar Dhawan another chance in a crucial game.

The toss will be crucial. Dhoni can't afford to lose another one. Ashwin will surely want to bowl last on a wearing wicket that should see a lot of bounce and carry in the initial days. After the ICC rap on Trent Bridge, England will make sure that the track at Manchester is a proper one and surely a pitch that favours the home team's quick bowlers.
Local boy James Anderson will have his tails up. He has taken a dozen wickets in four Tests at Old Trafford. Anderson has been a scourge for Indian batsmen with his lateral movement and pace. The 'not-guilty" verdict in the Jadeja case will add a few more yards to his attacking skills. In their last eight Tests at Old Trafford, England have won six and drawn two. England's last defeat at Manchester was in May 2001 against Pakistan. Can India conjure some sub-continental magic at Old Trafford?
