Sunrisers Hyderabad IPL 2025 Retentions: Full List Of Players Retained And Released
Reports were proven right as Sunrisers Hyderabad dished out the highest-ever auction retention fee to Heinrich Klaasen.
Heinrich Klaasen became the highest-ever retention in Indian Premier League (IPL) history as IPL 2024 runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad announced their list of the retained players ahead of the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction. Captain Pat Cummins was also retained, alongside Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Reddy and Travis Head. The auctions are reportedly to be held at the end of November in Saudi Arabia. As per BCCI's rule, all the ten franchises were asked to submit the final list of their retained players by Thursday, October 31. Playing under the captaincy of Australia pacer Pat Cummins, SRH finished as the first runners-up after losing to Kolkata Knight Riders in the final.Â
After reaching the final in IPL 2024, SRH made headlines as reports came out stating that South African wicket-keeper batter Klaasen would be given Rs 23 cr. The announcement proves the reports right. Captain Pat Cummins has taken a Rs 2 cr pay-cut from his IPL 2024 fee.
Indian batter Abhishek Sharma and all-rounder Nitish Reddy were two rising talents for SRH in IPL 2024, and have been retained. Reddy has only been retained for Rs 6 cr, compensating for Klaasen's high fee.
Marauding Australian opener Travis Head was arguably the best batter in IPL 2024, and has been kept on for Rs 14 cr.
The retentions mark the end of seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar's time at SRH. He had been with the franchise since 2014.
The likes of Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram, Washington Sundar, Glenn Phillips, Abdul Samad, Wanindu Hasaranga, Marco Jansen and T. Natarajan have not been retained. All these players could be highly sought-after in the mega auction.
