Andrew Strauss was confident at the start of the Lord's Test. By the time it ended, he was jubilant with his team's victory over India on Monday.
England registered a comprehensive 196-run victory against the Number 1 Test team and the English skipper could not stop beaming in the post-match ceremony. "Getting a result in lords is very tough so it just shows the great effort our bowlers put into this match," he said after the win. England pacers in James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Chris Tremlett combined forces well to restrict India in both innings and tame the much-acclaimed line-up.
Staruss chose to point out the consistency with which his bowlers bowled over the course of the historic Test. "Over the 2 innings it was the perfect bowling performance we have had in the past few years," he said adding that he dropped Sachin but that Anderson eventually got the master-blaster to save him the blushes.
India have lost the opening game of the 4-Test series but Strauss said he will not let the celebrations go full-out. "Its the first game of a 4 match test series so we don't want to get carried away."
