England's Owais Shah has been signed by the Rajasthan Royals for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League. He will replace Shane Warne who earlier, announced his retirement from all formats of the game.
Born in Karachi, 22-year-old Shah has played 17 T20 international matches for England and has a half-century to his credit. The batsman is familiar with the IPL format as he has played for Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Daredevils and Kochi Tuskers Kerala, in previous seasons. "We are delighted to have signed on Owais Shah to play for the Rajasthan Royals. He is one of the most exciting batsmen in the world and has been particularly outstanding in the shorter forms of the game," said Raghu Iyer, CEO, Jaipur IPL Cricket Pvt Ltd.
Warne though will be missed by the 2008 champions as he was the skipper of the side and was credited to have rallied his men well. Rahul Dravid has replaced him as captain of the side.
