21:16 (IST): QUOTES-
George Bailey: It was a fantastic all-round performance. We talked about our plans, and executed it very well. Mitchell (Johnson) has been really impressive, he gives us a great lift at the start of the innings. Getting to 300 was important. We got an excellent start thanks to (Phillip) Hughes and (Aaron) Finch. Our plan was to get 300, and we managed to get there. It is always important to start well in a long series.
MS Dhoni: We conceded too many runs. We had some good partnerships, but failed to convert it into bigger stands. I was a bit disappointed with some of the shot selections. There was some help for the bowlers, but we gave away too many runs. It was slightly more difficult under the lights. Our pacers are not all that fast compared to them. It was a hit the deck sort of a surface, but we could have won had our shot selection been better. It is a long series and will look to get back well in the next match.

PREVIEW
India would look to retain their top spot in the rankings when they clash with a relatively inexperienced Australian side in a seven-match series, beginning today.
India have enjoyed exceptional results in One Day Internationals this year. Except losing a three-match series to Pakistan at the start of 2013, the world champion side has had tremendous success.
The hosts had whitewashed Australia 4-0 in the February-March Test series and avenging that loss would be a herculean task for the visitors, who have come without inspiring skipper Michael Clarke even as their batsmen gave a good account of themselves in the one-off Twenty20 in Rajkot on Thursday.
Australia did beat England in ODIs post their Ashes debacle but India are a tough nut to crack in home conditions. And the visitors have got a fair idea about the task ahead after failing to defend a 200-plus total in the lone T20 earlier this week.
The Australian attack was subdued by the Indian batsmen, specially the comeback-man Yuvraj Singh, who took the game away from them with his blitzy 35-ball 77.
