India vs Sri Lanka: Axar Patel Replaces Kuldeep Yadav In India Squad For 2nd Test

Axar Patel has been added to India squad for the second Test against Sri Lanka set to be played in Bengaluru from March 12, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a media release on Tuesday. "The All-India Senior Selection Committee has added Axar Patel to India's squad for the second Test to be played from 12-16th March in Bengaluru. The all-rounder has completed his rehab and has been cleared by the BCCI Medical Team," the statement said. According to the Indian board, Axar is fit after the completion of his "rehab" and replaces Kuldeep Yadav in the squad.

The first Test in Mohali was comprehensively won by India by an innings and 222 runs after Sri Lanka were swept away by the all-round efforts of Ravindra Jadeja.

Jadeja remained not out in the first innings at 175 runs and also claimed a total of nine wickets in the match to cap off a tremendous outing.

Virat Kohli, ex-India captain, played his 100th Test in Mohali. However, he will be looking to end his century drought when he plays in Bengaluru, a place close to his heart thanks to his association with Royal Challengers Bangalore.

On the captaincy front, Rohit Sharma was spot on and hailed for his team selection, bowling changes and attacking field placements that helped the hosts claim a relatively easy win.

But Rohit wouldn't want his team to get complacent and will aim to finish his first series as Test captain of India with a 2-0 whitewash of Sri Lanka.
