Gurkeerat Singh returns to Indian team as the selectors name an unchanged 17-member squad for the final two games of the four-match Test series against South Africa.
The Indian team management had earlier released Umesh Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Gurkeerat from the Test squad to enable them to play their next Ranji Trophy matches for their respective state sides.
The 25-year-old all-rounder was in the side for the first two Tests as well and had even carried drinks during the first Test in Mohali.
Gurkeerat, who was also been picked for the ODI series, may not have featured in the playing XI yet, but right-hander has already left his impression on Kohli.
Praising Gurkeerat for his stellar form in domestic cricket, Kohli had said the batting all-rounder "brings balance" to the side and certainly fits into the future scheme of things in the senior team.
"He (Gurkeerat) has earned his call-up. He certainly fits in scheme of things and don't be surprised if you see him playing soon. I wish him all the luck. I can't put a particular time when but he has ability with the bat at that No.6 or No.7 position. He is a very dangerous, instinctive player, who can take the game away from opposition," the skipper had said.
India currently lead the four-match series 1-0. They won the first game by 108 runs, while the Bangalore Test ended in a draw after four days were washed out due to rain.
The third Test will be played in Nagpur from November 25-29.
Squad for the last two Tests:
Virat Kohli (Captain), Murali Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Amit Mishra, Varun Aaron, Ishant Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav, KL Rahul, Stuart Binny, Gurkeerat Singh Mann.
