Rahul Dravid at 38, will have a career T20 strike rate of 147.61. This after he scored 31 off 21 balls on debut against England on Wednesday.
Dravid, who has already announced his retirement from the limited overs format after the ongoing tour, played his first international T20 match after making his Test debut for the national team against the same opponents, 15 years back. The veteran batsman though showed that he is completely at ease in changing his style of batting as he whacked three consecutive sixes to bare his aggressive style of batting, one which has not been employed too often.
Considered the wall of the Indian batting, Dravid has played in the Indian Premier League but his innings at Old Trafford was a deviation from his otherwise anchoring style of play that has rescued his team on many occasions. That he had an equally aggressive partner in Ajinkya Rahane, a man 15 years his junior but on debut as well, helped India's cause greatly. Rahane had a strike rate of 156.41 in his first match which is higher than that of Yuvraj Singh (151.60) and Virender Sehwag (153.43).
Yuvraj and Sehwag may have played a lot more cricket than Rahane but Dravid will not play in international T20 matches anymore which makes his 'feat' one that will be remembered by his fans and cricket lovers at large.
