India vs Bangladesh - Top Five ODI Encounters
India-Bangladesh doesn't usually rank high up the order as other rivalries like India-Pakistan or India-Australia. But that doesn't mean the two cricket crazy countries have not delivered some mouthwatering clashes over the years. Here are the top five ODIs played between the Men in Blue and the Bangla Tigers.
Cricket World Cup 2007, Bangladesh beat India
The numero uno spot goes to one of Bangladesh's greatest wins in ODI cricket. The 2007 World Cup saw the Bangla tigers beat World Cup favourites India by five wickets in a group game. The Indian batting couldn't live up to its reputation as the side registered three ducks. On the other hand, Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan cracked half centuries as they beat India. India would eventually be knocked out in the group stage while Bangladesh sailed through to the super eights. (India's Top-Five Batsmen to Watch Out For)
Cricket World Cup 2011, India beat Bangladesh
At the second spot is India's triumph against Bangladesh in the opening match of the 2011 World Cup. Virender Sehwag smashed 175 and Virat Kohli recorded a 83-ball hundred as Team India blew away the World Cup co-hosts by 87 runs. Asia Cup 2014, Sachin Tendulkar's 100th Hundred as Bangladesh beat India
The third rank in this list goes to the biggest landmark in World cricket. Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar finally got to his 100th career hundred, as India posted 289. But Bangladesh played party poopers as they won the match with 4 balls to spare. Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim's heroics with the bat helped the Bangla Tigers register an upset as the loss would eventually play a major role in India failing to make the finals of the Asia Cup. Cricket World Cup 2015, India beat Bangladesh
At number four is India's 2015 World Cup quarter final triumph vs Bangladesh. Riding on Rohit Sharma's 137, India posted 302 vs Bangla Tigers. Umesh Yadav's four wicket haul helped India reached their second successive World Cup semi-final. A few questionable umpiring decisions that went against Bangladesh left a bitter taste in the mouths of the Bangla tigers. The entire country protested including Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
India beat Bangladesh in 2014, Stuart Binny took six wickets for four runs
In the 2014 bilateral series, India were dismissed for a paltry 105 which is still their lowest total in an ODI vs Bangladesh. Stuart Binny who was playing just his third ODI then took six wickets for a mere four runs to ensure that India romped home to a 47 run win. Stuart's figures of 6/4 are still the best by an Indian bowler in ODI cricket.
