Mustafizur was knocked out when Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who was trying to steal a quick single, collided with the Bangladeshi pacer. He returned to action after medical treatment and showed his spirit to fight the mighty Indians.
With figures of five for 50 in the first ODI, Mustafizur became the second Bangladeshi bowler to produce a fifer in his first match, joining Taskin Ahmed -- 5/28 in a losing cause against India at Mirpur on June 17, 2014. He also became the 10th bowler overall to claim a five-wicket haul on ODI debut. Man-of-the-match Mustafizur revealed he idolizes Pakistani pacer Mohammad Aamir, who was banned from playing cricket for five years for his role in spot-fixing during Lord's Test in 2010.
"Mohammad Amir is my idol. I just follow the bowling of Mohammad Amir. His spot-fixing allegations don't bother me," said the 19-year-old fast bowler. (Virat Kohli Keeps Wickets to Give MS Dhoni a One-Over Break)
"I wanted to perform well on debut. I know only a few have taken five on debut, but all I wanted was to do well against India," he added.
Mustafizur's terrific performance left Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza in complete awe.
"We knew that he (Mustafizur) can surprise any batsman, he bowled really well," Mortaza said.
