Lasith Malinga, who missed the New Zealand tour due to injury, has been named as the skipper of the Sri Lankan team for the upcoming Asia Cup and ICC World Twenty20 tournament in March.
Malinga, who has not played a single match since November 2015 against the West Indies, comes back along with Nuwan Kulasekara and Rangana Herath, who missed the three-match Twenty20 series against India which Sri Lanka lost 1-2.
Under Malinga's captaincy, Sri Lanka won their first Twenty20 title in 2014 when they defeated India by six wickets in Dhaka. The defending champions are placed in Group 1 along side West Indies, England, South Africa and another qualifier
