Barinder Sran broke several records as he enjoyed a memorable debut in the second Twenty20 International against Zimbabwe in Harare on Monday.
Sran had a decent first over as he leaked five runs but in his second over, he bowled a good slower delivery to send back Chamu Chibhabha for 10. He worked his magic in the third over as he picked up three wickets. He bowled Hamilton Masakadza with an incoming delivery while he forced Sikandar Raza to steer a short delivery low to KL Rahul at gully.
In the very next delivery, he trapped Tinotenda Mutombodzi LBW first ball to be on a hat-trick. He came back to bowl in the 18th over but missed out on the hat-trick and conceded just one run to end up with outstanding figures of 4-0-10-4.
The Punjab left-arm pacer's efforts helped India chase down Zimbabwe's paltry target and helped them achieve their first 10-wicket win in Twenty20 International history.
Sran, who was named Man of the Match for this performance, said that he did not feel any pressure on his debut. ""It was fun, the ball swung. There was no pressure, the debut came late. Not concentrating on pace but on swinging the ball."
This haul made him the second Indian bowler to take a four-wicket haul on debut, after Pragyan Ojha's 4/21 against Bangladesh in Trent Bridge in the 2009 World Twenty20.
He also finished with the second best bowling figures in T20Is, behind Ravichandran Ashwin's haul of 4/8 against Sri Lanka in Vishakhapatnam in February 2016.
He was well supported by Jasprit Bumrah, who also picked up his best haul of 3/11 as Zimbabwe managed 99/9, their lowest score against India.
