India vs West Indies T20s: MS Dhoni's Men Seek Revenge Against World Champions

MS Dhoni's India will be eyeing revenge against the West Indies when both teams square off at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida on Saturday and Sunday.

The West Indies, the two-time World T20 champions, will be aiming to assert their dominance in the shortest format while for India, they will be aiming to continue their good form in Twenty20 bilateral series, having won their last three series. This is the first time that India will be playing in the USA.

Here is a look at the their last five encounters in T20s:

ICC World T20 2016, March 31, Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai

On a flat Wankhede deck, a clinical 89 off just 47 balls from vice-captain Virat Kohli helped India post 192 in the semi-final against West Indies, led by Darren Sammy. With Chris Gayle, Marlon Samuels - whose magnificent 78 helped Windies beat Sri Lanka in final of 2012 World T20 - in the ranks, a target of 193 would not have frightened Sammy. But both fell in a span of two overs, leaving the Windies in trouble.

It'll be interesting to see as to who comes out on top in battle between Virat Kohli - Dwayne Bravo.

Lendl Simmons, who came in to the side in place of injured Andre Fletcher, began the rebuilding process. He was caught off a no-ball twice. Along with Andre Russell's blazing 43 off 20 balls, Simmons' knock of 82 shattered India's dreams of winning another title at home as West Indies reached the final for the second time.

ICC World T20 2014, March 23, Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur

Bowlers set up a comprehensive win for India in what was expected to be an exciting contest between both teams. Bhuvneshwar Kumar set the template with the most economical figures in T20Is, 3-0-3-0; Shami maintained the pressure at the other end, Ravindra Jadeja and Amit Mishra picked up wickets at regular intervals to restrict the Windies to just 129.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma then saw India through with well-compiled half-centuries, even though a patchy 10 off 19 from Yuvraj Singh created some drama at the end.

June 4, 2011 - Only T20I, Port of Spain

Debutant Subramaniam Badrinath and Rohit Sharma, both of whom got extra lives early on, shared a crucial 71-run stand for the fifth wicket to guide India to 159. As the ball turned and bounced, R Ashwin and Harbhajan Singh proved too good for the West Indies and they suffered their first T20 defeat to India.

ICC World T20 2010, May 9, Bridgetown, Barbados

Gayle and bouncers left India facing exit from the tournament. Riding on a blistering 98 from the 'Universe Boss', West Indies posted 169 on a sporting wicket in Kensington Oval. Except Harbhajan Singh and Ashish Nehra, all other Indian bowlers failed to make a mark.

While chasing the target, India's batsmen faced a barrage of bouncers from Jerome Taylor, Kemar Roach, and Dwayne Bravo and they slumped to a 14-run defeat that put them on the brink of elimination.

ICC World T20 2009, June 12, Lord's

After electing to bat, India got off to a worst possible start as Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma, promoted to open the batting, got out in quick succession. Tottering at 73/4 at one stage, Yuvraj Singh and Yusuf Pathan came to India's rescue and propelled them to a fighting total of 153.

In reply, Lendl Simmons and Dwayne Bravo made light work of Zaheer Khan and co. as the West Indies raced to the target with six wickets and eight balls to spare. Bravo scored 66 off just 36 balls while Simmons hit five boundaries in his 44.
