US Open: Sania Mirza-Jie Zheng win Round 1 in straight sets

India's Sania Mirza made an emphatic start to her women's doubles campaign in the US Open, on Thursday. Partnering Jie Zheng of China, she cruised past Monica Puig of Puerto Rico and German Annika Beck 6-2, 6-2.
The New Haven Open champions were aggressive from the word go and hardly broke a sweat during the course of their 1 hour, 21 minute match. The 10th seeds took the first set in 46 minutes and returned to claim the second in 35 minutes.
Sania and Zheng will now face Katalin Marosi of Hungary and American Megan Moulton-Levi in the second round.
