Clijsters joins the Grand Slam Moms

Kim Clijsters became the third mother to win a Grand Slam title in the Open era on Sunday by defeating Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark 7-5, 6-3 in the final:

Kim Clijsters (BEL) - 2009 US Open

- Erupted onto the international scene at the start of the millennium along with Belgian compatriot Justine Henin. Her athletic style of play won her one Grand Slam title at the 2005 US Open and great popularity. But she walked away from the sport in May, 2007 saying she was tired of the injuries and lifestyle. Clijsters married, gave birth to a baby daughter and shortly after began planning her comeback. She won the US Open title at 26 in just her third tournament back.

Evonne Goolagong (AUS) - 1980 Wimbledon

- The Australian, who came from an aboriginal family, skipped the 1977 season to have first child Kelly before returning to the tour, and going on at 29-year-old to defeat Chris Evert at the 1980 Wimbledon final to win her second All England and seventh Grand Slam singles crown. The Australian was the first mother in 66 years to win the Wimbledon title. She retired three years later.

Margaret Court (AUS) - 1973 Australian, French and US Opens

- In 1970, the Australian, known as Margaret Smith before she married, became the first woman during the Open era and the second woman ever to win all four Grand Slam singles titles in the same calendar year. The next year, Court lost the Wimbledon singles final to Evonne Goolagong while pregnant with her first child, Daniel, who was born in March 1972. The following year she went on to win the Australian, French and US Opens. She retired in 1977.
