- Ajinkya Rahane has become the first Indian fielder to take 10 catches in a Test series in Sri Lanka. (India in Sri Lanka: Vijay, Rahane Put India in Charge)
- Rahane is now the second Indian fielder to take 10 catches in a Test series versus Sri Lanka. In the series against Sri Lanka in India in 1993-94, Mohammad Azharuddin took 10 catches. (The Dance That Changed The Day?)
- For the third time, Amit Mishra has bagged four wickets or more in an innings, once each against Australia, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
- Mishra's excellent figures of 4/43 are his best away from home. It is his second best after his haul of 5/71 on his Test debut against Australia at Mohali in October 2008.
- Playing in his 15th Test, Mishra has completed his 50 wickets, his tally being 52 at an average of 38.19.
- Lahiru Thirimanne (62) scored his first fifty against India, his fourth in Tests.
- Thirimanne's 142-ball fifty is his slowest in Tests. His previous slowest was a 128-ball fifty vs New Zealand at Wellington in January this year.
- Angelo Mathews (102) scored his fifth Test century as captain. Mathews' first century vs India is his sixth in Tests. His previous highest score against India was 99 at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai in December 2009.
- Mathews enjoys an outstanding record as captain in Tests. He has scored 1999 in 20 Tests at an average of 71.39. He needs just one run to become the fourth Sri Lankan captain to complete 2,000 runs or more -- the top three being Mahela Jayawardene (3665), Arjuna Ranatunga (3118) and Sanath Jayasuriya (2177).
- Only Alastair Cook has scored more runs as captain than Matthews since March 8, 2013 -- the date of Mathews' becoming captain in Tests.
- Only two Sri Lankan captains have scored more hundreds than Matthews' five -- Jayawardene (14) and Sangakkara (7).
- During the course of his above century, Mathews has completed his 2,000 runs in Tests in Sri Lanka. His tally is 2037 (ave.58.20) in 30 Tests. His tally includes three hundreds and 12 fifties.
- Mathews is the tenth Sri Lankan batsman to accomplish the aforesaid feat in Tests in Sri Lanka.
- Mathews and Thirimanne were involved in a stand of 127, which is Sri Lanka's highest fourth wicket partnership against India at P.Sara Oval, surpassing the 99 between Duleep Mendis and Roy Dias in September 1985.
- The aforesaid stand is Sri Lanka's third highest fourth-wicket partnership at P Sara Oval. Their highest fourth-wicket partnership at this venue in Tests is 240* between Arjuna Ranatunga and Asanka Gurusinha against Pakistan in March 1986.
