The year 2014 was a glorious celebration of Indian sports in the international arena. With numerous events across different sports genres and all over the world, the Indian flag was hoisted with pride by sportspersons and fans alike.
Here's a list of the top-10 moments that made Indians proud:
* India conquer Lords after 28 Years, beat England by 95 runs (July 21)

Ishant Sharma's dramatic seven wickets for 74 runs helped India register a historic win against England at Lord's.
The last time India won a Test at Lord's, 10 players in the current touring party were not even born. A 28-year-long wait came to an emphatic end when the third generation of Indians since 1986 battled past England at their most formidable fortress. * Abhinav Bindra signs off from shooting with CWG gold (July 25)
India's golden boy Abhinav Bindra finished off his Commonwealth Games journey with his maiden singles gold medal in the men's 10m air rifle event.

* Sania Mirza wins US Open doubles title (September 5)

* Mary Kom wins historic Asian Games gold (October 1)

Boxer Mary Kom showed her determination and skill with a memorable gold - her first at Asian Games. The world number five defeated Zhaina Shekerbekova of Kazakhstan in the women's flyweight (48-51 kg) division final. (Read more here)
* India win Asian Games hockey gold after 1998 to qualify for Rio Olympics (October 2)

India's national sport - hockey - had its biggest moment in years when the national men's team defeated Pakistan in Asian Games final. The win not only helped the side win an Asian Games gold after 16 years but also earned the side a place in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

* Rohit Sharma Slams Record ODI Score (November 14)

Rohit Sharma created history when he became the first player to score two double hundreds in ODIs. He finished his innings on a record 264 - the highest by any cricketer - against Sri Lanka in Eden Gardens. India scored 404/5 and won the match by 153 runs. (Read full report here)
* Saina Nehwal, Kidambi Srikanth Win China Open (November 16)

Indian badminton stars Saina Nehwal and Kidambi Srikanth brought down renowned and formidable opponents to win China Open - a historic feat from both.
While Srikanth beat home favourite and two-time Olympic champion Lin Dan (21-19, 21-17), Saina overcame Japan's Akane Yamaguchi 21-12, 22-2. (Read full report here)
* Inaugural IPTL brings Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic to India (December 9)

Roger Federer's second and Novak Djokovic's maiden visit to India was celebrated with a lot of cheer from Indian tennis fans.

Appointed captain for the 1st Test against Australia, Virat Kohli showed fiery intent and good skills on the field. While he marshalled his men well, he also continued his good form - hitting 115 and 141. Despite his heroics and a positive intent from the team however, India lost the Adelaide Test by 48 runs.
