Virat Kohli scores sixth Test hundred, rescues India against New Zealand

Virat Kohli's batting stood out once again as the maverick No. 3 hit his sixth Test century to help India save the second and final Test against hosts New Zealand in Wellington on Tuesday. Set 435 to win from a minimum of 67 overs, Kohli came out to bat at 10/2 and seized the initiative wit h15 fours and a six. (Highlights)

Coming in to bat after Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay had departed cheaply, the 25-year-old played a fluent knock to keep Kiwi bowlers at bay. He had a stroke of luck as well when, on 15, an edge of his bat was turned down by the umpire despite replays confirming the snick. (Scorecard)
Kohli had stood firm during the appeal and he maintained his stubborn stance through the course of his remaining innings - 105* when play was finally called off and the match declared a draw.
India may have lost the Test series 0-1 but the Delhi batsman had a productive outing in whites. Kohli had scored 38 in the first innings and 67 in the first Test. On both occasions he had added some credibility to a rather jaded Indian batting scorecard.
On Day 5 of the second Test, Kohli capped a successful series by reaching the three-figure mark with characteristic skill and poise.
