Having pulled out of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season due to injury, Shreyas Iyer took to social media to announce that his surgery was a success, and he is on the road to recovery. The Delhi Capitals (DC) captain suffered a shoulder injury during the ODI series against England recently. Taking to Twitter, Iyer posted a post-surgery photo of him lying down on the hospital bed with a thumbs-up sign. He also captioned the photo as, "Surgery was a success and with lion-hearted determination, I'll be back in no time Thank you for your wishes."

The injury occurred during India's first ODI against England on March 23. Iyer suffered subluxation on his left shoulder while fielding. He was ruled out of the series, and later it was announced that he would be missing IPL 2021.
In his absence, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has been appointed as DC's standby captain.
Despite the presence of big stars, Iyer's absence is still a big blow for Delhi. The talismanic cricketer led them to their maiden IPL final last year.
During IPL 2020, DC finished the league phase in second position. But their fairy-tale run was brought to an end by Mumbai Indians (MI) in the final.
IPL 2021 is set to begin from April 9, with defending champions MI scheduled to face Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Meanwhile, DC will have their first match on April 10, when they take on Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
