Opener Chris Lynn anchored his innings to perfection as Kolkata Knight Riders were back to winning ways with a comfortable six-wicket win against Royal Challengers Bangalore in an IPL encounter on Sunday night. Chasing a sub-par target of 176, KKR reached the target in 19.1 overs with Lynn scoring an unbeaten 62 off 52 balls with seven fours and a six. KKR captain Dinesh Karthik relishing his new found role as a finisher, played his part with a 10-ball-23 to make it easy in the end. KKR with eight points remained in fourth place while Virat Kohli's men slumped further with their fifth defeat in seven games. At the onset of the chase, Lynn and Sunil Narine (27 off 19 balls) provided a solid if not spectacular foundation adding 51 runs in the Powerplay overs. (Scorecard)
Earlier, A good opening stand followed by skipper Virat Kohli's unbeaten half-century helped Royal Challengers Bangalore to post 175/4 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in an Indian Premier League (IPL) tie on Sunday. Kohli's unbeaten 68-run knock came off 44 balls, containing five boundaries and three sixes at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Put into bat, Bangalore started on a cautious note as openers Quinton de Kock (29 off 27) and Brendon McCullum (38 off 28) shared a 67-run partnership for the first wicket. KKR spinner Kuldeep Yadav came up with the first breakthrough as he packed de Kock in the ninth over.

With the addition of just seven runs in Bangalore's overall score of 67, Andre Russel jolted the hosts after dismissing McCullum and Manan Vohra (0) in the next over. However, Kohli kept one end tight and added 65 runs for the fourth wicket with Mandeep Singh (19). Mandeep however, didn't show a fight and was dismissed on a Russel delivery in the 18th over with Bangalore's score reading 140/4.
Kohli continued his good work and slammed yet another half-century and some fireworks by him in the final moments helped the hosts reach a respectable total of 175/4. For Kolkata, Russel was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/31 while Kuldeep scalped a wicket for 20 runs.

19:33 IST:Â Virat Kohli -- Would have bowled first too, difficult ground to defend. Got to take up the challenge, toss is only in your control that much. Not bad toss to lose actually. Will stay similar throughout as DK mentioned. Hopefully it wears off and spinners get purchase. This ground has always been difficult to defend, we've done that to other teams too. Hats off to them (CSK). Our bowlers have put it behind them. AB is sick, Southee replaces him. Negi replaced by Vohra. M Ashwin comes in for Washington Sundar. AB has got a bit of a viral fever going. If he could, he would play with one leg and one hand. But he's taken the call himself, have to respect that.
19:31 IST:Â Dinesh Karthik -- We're bowling first. Looks a dry wicket, make best use of it initially. Let's see how it goes. Same team. Trust the same team, wish they bring the goods for us. Important we trust the people we play in the XI. Picked a bunch of players we believe in.
19:30 IST: Kolkata Knight Riders captain Dinesh Karthik wins toss, opts to field vs Royal Challengers Bangalore.

19:15 IST: Hello and welcome to the live blog of the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Kolkata Knight Riders.
KKR's concern will be their bowling, which has failed to defend even big totals. The spin trio of Kuldeep Yadav, Piyush Chawla and Sunil Narine and pacers Shivam Mavi and Tom Curran were plundered by Shreyas Iyer and Prithvi Shaw of Delhi in their last game and will look to bounce back strongly although it will be very difficult at the batting-friendly Chinnaswamy wicket.
On the other hand, RCB, led by Virat Kohli, have never got any momentum. Their two wins have comes against Kings XI (April 13) and Delhi (April 21). In their last match, RCB failed to defend their total of 205/8 against Chennai Super Kings, who rode on half-centuries from Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Ambati Rayudu to win by five wickets.
That loss continued to show RCB's weakness in their bowling department. The spin duo of Yuzuvendra Chahal and Washington Sundar and seamers Chris Woakes and Umesh Yadav have done well in parts and need to bring their best in order to avoid another defeat which could endanger their playoff chances.
In batting, RCB have a top-heavy line-up, with the presence of AB De Villiers (280 runs), Virat Kohli (249 runs) enough to hurt any bowling line-up. Mandeep Singh (171), Quinton de Kock (165) also need to contribute more.
Bangalore however, have failed to find the perfect opening partnerships, which could be a major cause of concern.
Squads:
Royal Challengers Bangalore: Virat Kohli (Captain), Quinton de Kock(WK), Brendon McCullum, AB de Villiers, Sarfaraz Khan, Mandeep Singh, Chris Woakes, Washington Sundar, Kulwant Khejroliya, Umesh Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Colin de Grandhomme, Moeen Ali, Manan Vohra, Aniket Choudhary, Navdeep Saini, Murugan Ashwin, Pawan Negi, Mohammed Siraj, Corey Anderson, Parthiv Patel, Aniruddha Joshi, Pavan Deshpande, Tim Southee.
Kolkata Knight Riders: Dinesh Karthik (Captain/WK), Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Chris Lynn, Robin Uthappa, Mitchell Johnson, Piyush Chawla, Kuldeep Yadav, Shubman Gill, Ishank Jaggi, Nitish Rana, Vinay Kumar, Apoorv Wankhade, Rinku Singh, Shivam Mavi, Cameron Delport, Javon Searles, Tom Curran, Prasidh Krishna.
