Sunrisers Hyderabad have reached their maiden final in IPL.
The 2016 Indian Premier League has pushed the barriers of run-scoring. Virat Kohli has touched the zenith of his batting by coming close to 1000 runs in one edition. David Warner, the Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper, who has been in amazing form, created his own milestone when he went past 800 runs in this edition.
Warner achieved the feat in the fourth over when he reached out to a wide ball from Shane Watson and sliced it to the third man fence in the fifth over. The left-hander's exploits have been the prime reason for Sunrisers Hyderabad's progress to the final.
The SRH skipper continued his aggressive strokeplay and he blasted Yuzvendra Chahal for a boundary in the ninth over to bring up his ninth fifty of the 2016 edition off just 24 balls. This was the joint-fastest fifty by a batsman in an IPL final, with Suresh Raina also scoring a 24-ball fifty for Chennai Super Kings in the 2010 IPL final against Mumbai Indians.
Warner looked good for a century but he departed for 69 when he cut a short ball from Sreenath Aravind straight to Iqbal Abdulla at short third man.
The SRH skipper has already scored the most runs by an Australian in the Indian Premier League, going past Michael Hussey's mark of 733 runs achieved in the 2013 edition. He already has the most fifty-plus scores in the IPL with 34, with 32 fifties and two centuries. Warner is already the leading run-getter with SRH with over 1900 runs.
In the course of his fifty, Warner also became the second batsman after Kohli to score 1000 runs in T20s in the calendar year.
