Four defeats after a resounding start and seventh on the IPL 2016 points table is something a heavyweight team like RPS would not have imagined when the IPL started on April 9. But this tournament has been a reality check for debutants RPS.
RPS are yet to play the perfect team game. In spite of having specialist players like Faf du Plessis, Steven Smith and Thisara Perera, RPS have fallen short time and again. Kevin Pietersen's absence will hurt the team balance to some extent but also open a window of opportunity for Mitchell Marsh to shine.
Sunrisers have improved with every game. David Warner's batting has been the highpoint of the team's success story in their last three matches. Shikhar Dhawan's return to form is also good news.
But it's been the bowlers who have helped Sunrisers win tight games. The right-left combination of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mustafizur Rahman has been lethal. Hyderabad's wicket should assist the pace duo and if the trend is anything to go by, the team winning the toss should opt to field first.
