Confirming the news to IANS, Gambhir's manager Dinesh Chopra said: "He is not travelling with the team, he is down with a stomach bug and fever."
Earlier, the southpaw, who has been in rollicking form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with two back-to-back 50s, had wished KKR fans on the Bengali New Year.
"Hi friends, down wid a stomach bug but am still a part of ur new year celebrations. Shubho Nobo Borsho to all of u. Enjoy!" he had tweeted.
But with the match scheduled on April 18, the KKR captain still has time to recover and take the field on Saturday against Kings XI Punjab.
