When Kolkata Knight Riders took on the Kings XI Punjab last season, the story was a completely different. In the 2014 finals, KKR and Kings XI went head-to-head in a thrilling finale. This season, with eight losses in 10 games, Kings XI are out of the play-off contention, while KKR are placed at number three in the league table. (Punjab Aiming to Spoil Kolkata Party)
Punjab have been poor this season despite having four World Cup winners in their squad - none of them have done anything remarkable. In the last game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, they wilted to the second biggest loss of the IPL. Bangalore's left-arm seamer cracked them open and bundled them out below a hundred. (KKR Look to End Home Run on a High)
In the bowling department, the Indian duo of Sandeep Sharma and Anureet Singh has been the only bright spark for the Punjab side.

© BCCI
The foreign recruits have let down Punjab the most - Glenn Maxwell can't get the ball off-the-square, Mitchell Johnson has been spraying it all over the place, Shaun Marsh hasn't been on view while George Bailey and David Miller has contributed sporadically. (Gambhir Hails KKR Spinners)
Knight Riders, on the other hand, have been steady. They have had a few losses in between but overall they have looked like a team set to make it to the top-four. Their batting has hold up in most occasions while their bowling led by the wily Brad Hogg has been keeping the oppositions in check. In the last game against the Daredevils, Piyush Chawla too joined the party.
It's going to be a mighty task for Punjab to dismantle the Knights but then again, teams rise from the ashes when there's pride at stake!
