Mumbai Indians won their fifth consecutive match in the Indian Premier League as Hardik Pandya and Ambati Rayudu chased down 159 in a thrilling fashion. After a fantastic start from Parthiv Patel and Lendl Simmons, Mumbai lost their way in front of some fantastic bowling from Ravichandran Ashwin but a late surge from Pandya and Rayudu ensured them a six-wicket victory.
Earlier, Chennai won the toss and elected to bat. They posted 158/5 after a brilliant partnership between MS Dhoni and Pawan Negi that steadied their ship after losing a heap of wickets in the middle of their innings. Chennai has now lost three out of their last four games.

22:55: 100 up for Mumbai. 58 runs needed off 30 balls but have a look at this Ashwin 4 overs, 17 runs, 2 wickets; Negi 3 overs for just 10 runs and Jadeja 4 overs for 27 runs - the spinners at it for Chennai, once again. Stifling the opposition.
22:45: Chennai are on top now. Champion team they are, always find a way to come back. Mumbai are now under the hammer. Rayudu-Rohit need to guide Mumbai here but it won't be easy because the men in canary yellow have sniffed blood!

108 from 15 overs with 10 wickets in hand. Most days walk in the park. But spin could be a big factor for #CSK

19:20: Chennai 10 - 9 Mumbai - that's the head-to-head score. The battle between the two most glamorous franchises is set to take off in Chennai. Mumbai are in stunning form off-late while the Super Kings, although topping the table, hasn't been at their brilliant best. Which way will the pendulum swing tonight?

After being terribly poor in the first half of the tournament, Mumbai has clicked into gear and now looks all set to grab a top-four spot. Their openers have found form and in the middle-order, Ambati Rayudu has emerged has a saviour. The right-hander now has been unbeaten in his last three knocks and out of those three, two have been match winning half centuries.
The bowling looks formidable with Lasith Malinga and Mitchell McClenaghan leading the pace-attack. However, in Chennai, Malinga won't be fielded due to the ongoing political problems and just when Mumbai needed a replacement, their hard-hitting all-rounder Corey Anderson is all set to make a comeback.
Chennai, on the other hand, have gone off-the-boil a bit. Although they bounced back after two consecutive defeats, the MS Dhoni-led canary yellow unit have failed to stamp their usual authority on the tournament. Their batting has been circumspect especially with Dwayne Smith misfiring at the top. Suresh Raina and Brendon McCullum have played their occasional blinders but have been far inconsistent.
The form of the captain too, has been a big worry for the CSK.
They bowling has done well. The rebirth of Ashish Nehra has augured well for Chennai but the injury to Ashwin is a big blow to them. Ashwin has missed a couple of games with a finger injury and will be accessed just before the game begins.
At the Chidambaram Stadium, CSK are a fierce opponent but on current form, Mumbai are all set to invade the Super Kings' fortress.
