Indian Premier League: Ashish Nehra's 4-0-10-4, not Good Enough for Man-of-the-Match Award
Ashish Nehra, 35, came up with career-best figures of 4/10 vs Royal Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday, but the Man-of-the-Match award still went to Suresh Raina for his 32-ball-62.

In a match where the youngest player on the field was all of 17 (Sarfaraz Khan of Royal Challengers Bangalore), it was Ashish Nehra, a week away from his 36th birthday, who stole the show. Nehra's figures of 4/10 are his career best. The former India pacer is also the tournament's Purple Cap holder at the moment, for his 10 scalps from 5 games. "I've always bowled well in the IPL, but I haven't been amidst wickets. Maybe that's why nobody has noticed me," Nehra said, after missing out on the Man of the Match award to teammate Suresh Raina. "This time because I am taking wickets I guess everyone's talking about me."
Nehra, who has played for the Delhi Daredevils and Pune Warriors in the past, was picked up by CSK for a whopping 2 crore at this year's auction. It was a pretty unthinkable thing to do. Nehra hasn't played an international match since the 2011 World Cup semi-final. And through his career, injuries have always plagued him.
But he has put all that behind him clearly. In the match against Delhi Daredevils, he took 3/25, forcing his former India and Delhi teammate Virender Sehwag to tweet, "Old is gold".
In fact Nehra's fantastic showing in IPL 8 could also inspire a few others. "Look he's starting to swing the ball back into the right handers, and it's great to see the way he's improved, former Australian cricketer Dean Jones told NDTV. "And I think the way he's performing; he's going to help guys like Zaheer bowling well too."
In case you still think T20 is a young man's game, well, think again.
