Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Delhi Daredevils by 8 wickets (D/L) in Match 32 of IPL 7. Catch highlights here: (Scorecard | Commentary | Points Table | Schedule)
ÂÂ
20:26 IST: Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Delhi Daredevils by eight wickets (D/L method). The Sunrisers braved several rain interruptions and revised targets to finally chase down 43 of 5 overs, thanks to cameos from David Warner and Naman Ojha.
20:20 IST: WICKET! Finch falls to Shukla and Delhi sense a victory here. But with Warner in the middle, it could be unlikely. Meanwhile, the IPL final has been shifted to Bangalore.
ÂÂ
20:10 IST: SRH are chasing 43 off 5 overs here.
ÂÂ
19:49 IST: And, the rain is back again. This is frustrating. SRH are 17/1 after 2 overs with Warner and Finch in the middle.
ÂÂ
19:45 IST: WICKET! Big blow for SRH, as Dhawan falls to Kaul in the second over. Warner comes up the order at No.3, instead of Lokesh Rahul and joins Finch in the middle. SRH 13/1 off 1.4 overs.
ÂÂ
19:42 IST: Play resumes again and the Sunrisers now chase 97 runs of 12 overs.
ÂÂ
19:36 IST: Meanwhile at the Wankhede Stadium, Chennai Super Kings have won the toss and will bowl against Mumbai Indians. CSK have included Samuel Badree for Ben Hilfenhaus and MI have dropped Ben Dunk and Pawan Suyal and added Lendl Simmons and Praveen Kumar.
ÂÂ
19:25 IST: Another rain break and the players are off. The cut-off time for this match is 20:20 IST and we will almost certainly lose more overs here. SRH 11/0 after 1.1 overs.
ÂÂ
19:22 IST: FOUR! Splendid shot from Dhawan, as he slams a short one from Shami. Great placement. SRH are 10/0 off 0.4 overs. Instead of six, the powerplays are five overs and five bowlers can bowl a maximum of three each.
ÂÂ
19:14 IST: The covers are off and play will begin shortly. Sunrisers Hyderabad chase a revised target of 117 off 15 overs.

18:45 IST: Delhi Daredevils are 143/7 off their 20 overs. It was another good bowling performance by the Sunrisers Hyderabad as Amit Mishra (2/23), Moises Henriques (2/26), Kumar (1/23) and Steyn (2/20) helped restrict the hosts to an average score at the Feroz Shah Kotla. The Sunrisers were unchanged and asked the Daredevils to bat in bright conditions. Steyn removed Quinton de Kock early but Kevin Pietersen and Dinesh Karthik played smart cameos to add some meat to the total. JP Duminy was again sent way down the order and that allowed the Sunrisers to build pressure on the lesser batsmen.
18:41 IST: WICKET! Kumar castles Duminy off the last ball of what was a sensational over. Just two runs off it too as DD reach 139/6 after 19 overs.
ÂÂ
18:35 IST: Delhi Daredevils fans have to wonder why JP Duminy, their best batsman, is being held back till so late. Here, he watched as Mayank Agarwal and Laxmi Shukla walked in to bat before him.
ÂÂ
ÂÂ
18:30 IST: WICKET! Henriques strikes again to remove another set batsman; this time Shukla holds out to Warner in the deep. DD 132/5 off 16.5 overs.
ÂÂ
18:27 IST: WICKET! That ball from Henriques did not deserve a wicket but Steyn took a sensational catch to see off Dinesh Karthik for 39 off 30 balls, paving the way for JP Duminy to join Shukla in the middle. DD 128/4 off 16.1 overs.
ÂÂ
18:18 IST: Karthik does not seem to have been rattled by the hour-long break at all. He slammed Karn Sharma for SIX and FOUR as DD race away to 115/3 off 14 overs.
ÂÂ
18:05 IST: The players are warming up in the middle and we hear a start could be possible at 18:15 IST. No overs have been reduced.
ÂÂ
If DD does not bat again and if only 5 overs are possible the target for SRH will be 50 in #IPL match no 32 #DDvSRH

ÂÂ
17:51 IST: Latest update from the ground - Rain has stopped and an inspection by the umpires is expected in 5 minutes. Play could start shortly after that. We will keep you posted as soon as we get to know more from the Kotla.
ÂÂ
17:46 IST: Dale Steyn has been the most economical bowler for Sunrisers Hyderabad today. Amit Mishra has taken two key wickets but Steyn's three overs for 16, including the early wicket of Quinton de Kock underlined his importance for Shikhar Dhawan. Here's a look at his bowling graph.
17:37 IST: As rain continues to play spoilsport in Delhi, let's shift your focus to the next game tonight. Mumbai Indians take on Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium. The defending champions are second from the bottom while the Super Kings sit pretty at second, right after Kings XI Punjab. It has been a disastrous first half for Mumbai, but they have shown some more spunk after returning home, winning two on the bounce. But can they put one past CSK, who are coming off a heavy defeat against the Kings XI?
ÂÂ
17:28 IST: It's now raining at the Kotla. The ground staff were quick to move in and cover the square. It's an unfortunate break, given how the game was poised. Both Dinesh Karthik and Laxmi Shukla had started a DD revival after Amit Mishra struck twice to bring the Sunrisers back into the game.
ÂÂ
17:04 IST: The threat of rain has forced the umpires to halt play. It is very dark at the Kotla now and the ground has been covered. DD are 103/3 off 13.1 overs.
ÂÂ
17:00 IST: The 100 is up for DD in 12.5 overs. Karthik and Shukla are looking good in the middle and the hosts will be looking at a strong total here. The projected score is 157. Delhi will take 160 or over.
ÂÂ
16:58 IST: SIX! That was cheeky from Dinesh Karthik and scoops the ball over the fine leg boundary. You need courage to hit Steyn like that.
ÂÂ
16:56 IST: Steyn back into the attack for his second spell with some cloud cover at the Feroz Shah Kotla.
ÂÂ
16:55 IST: Irfan Pathan into the attack with DD on 84/4 off 11 overs and he gives away seven off his first; DD reach 91/3 off 12 overs.
ÂÂ
16:50 IST: SIX! Shukla decides to take Mishra on and slams a googly into the stands. This is a top shot against a top spinner as Delhi look to build some momentum in the latter half of their innings.
ÂÂ
16:46 IST: Halfway through the innings, the Daredevils have reached 75/3. Dinesh Karthik is key if the hosts are to reach a good total by the end of their 20 overs. He has the destructive Laxmi Ratan Shukla for company.
ÂÂ
16:42 IST: WICKET! Mishra strikes again to remove Agarwal for 25 off 18 balls. He has now sent back both set men and given the Sunrisers a chance to restrict the hosts to a par total. DD are 73/3 off 8.5 overs.
ÂÂ
16:39 IST: FOUR! Lucky runs for Agarwal, as the edge carries away to the fence. DD mind won't those.
ÂÂ
16:33 IST: WICKET! And Mishra bags his 100th IPL wicket, gets rid of Kevin Pietersen or 35 off 19 balls. This is a huge wicket for SRH because KP was looking to plunder some runs today. DD 54/2 off 6.3 overs.
ÂÂ
16:30 IST: Amit Mishra in the attack after the strategic timeout.
ÂÂ
16:28 IST: End of the powerplay and DD are 52/1. This is a great start, despite the early loss of Quinton de Kock. Strategic timeout.
ÂÂ
16:25 IST: Moises Henriques into the attack and SIX! KP is on fire as he lifts the Australian seamer straight into the stands. That's making a statement. FOUR! And the big hit is followed up by a sweetly timed boundary as DD reach 47/1in 5.2 overs.
ÂÂ
16:21 IST: SIX! First of the innings from Pietersen as he launches into Karn Sharma, the wily SRH leggie. FOUR! And KP follows it up with a nicely timed boundary as DD announce their intentions.
ÂÂ
16:19 IST: Karn Sharma replaces Dale Steyn with DD on 23/1 off 4 overs.
ÂÂ
16:15 IST: FOUR! Pietersen this time as he opens the face of the bat and sends Kumar crashing to the fence. FOUR! An edge and the ball races away to the ropes through the vacant slip area.
ÂÂ
16:14 IST: FOUR! Cracking shot from Mayank Agarwal to get off the mark. DD are 14/1 after three overs.
ÂÂ
16:11 IST: WICKET! Steyn has struck early for the Sunrisers as de Kock departs. This is another poor start for the Daredevils. DD 10/1 off 2.4 overs.
ÂÂ
16:09 IST: Kumar gives away six as DD reach 10/0 after 2 overs.
ÂÂ
16:05 IST: Bhuvneshwar Kumar, like always, shares the new ball with Steyn after he gave away four runs from the first over.
ÂÂ
16:00 IST: Kevin Pietersen is opening with Quinton de Kock for the Daredevils. Maybe that's what the DD captain needs.
ÂÂ
15:44 IST: Here are the playing XIs:
ÂÂ
Delhi Daredevils: Q de Kock, MA Agarwal, KP Pietersen (Captain), KD Karthik (WK), JP Duminy, LR Shukla, KM Jadhav, Mohammed Shami, Imran Tahir, S Kaul, R Shukla
Sunrisers Hyderabad: S Dhawan (Captain), AJ Finch, KL Rahul, NV Ojha (WK), DA Warner, MC Henriques, IK Pathan, KV Sharma, DW Steyn, A Mishra, B Kumar
ÂÂ
15:34 IST: Sunrisers Hyderabad have won the toss and decided to bowl vs Delhi Daredevils. SRH are unchanged while DD have made three changes. Parnell, Vijay and Nadeem have been dropped. Imran Tahir, Rahul Shukla and Mayank Agarwak find their way in.
ÂÂ
Down in the dumps after three consecutive heavy defeats, a beleaguered Delhi Daredevils have no option but to win all their remaining games, starting with the tie against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday to salvage any hope of qualifying for the play-offs of Indian Premier League-7. It is also expected to be a big test for Delhi skipper Kevin Pietersen, who has failed to make an impression so far in this year's IPL.
With just two wins out of eight games, the Daredevils are languishing at the bottom of the points table and only a miracle performance from here on can seal their place in the knock-out stages of the T20 event.
For Daredevils, it turned out to be a nightmarish return to home as they are yet to register a win out of three matches at the capital's Feroze Shah Kotla ground. The Delhi outfit's only two wins so far this season came in the UAE leg of the tournament. (Uthappa, Gambhir power KKR to victory over Delhi Daredevils)
On the other hand, the Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Rajasthan Royals by 32 runs on Thursday thanks to a great bowling effort from Bhuvneshwar Kumar (4/14), along with some help from Dale Steyn.
ÂÂ
Hyderabad Stay in Contention of Reaching IPL Play-Offs Courtesy Bhuvneshwar, Steyn
If Sunrisers Hyderabad have remained in fray for a berth in the playoffs of the Indian Premier League 2014, it is largely because of their quick bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Dale Steyn. Bhuvneshwar's excellent figures of 4 for 14 vs Rajasthan Royals are the best by a Hyderabad bowler in IPL, eclipsing 4 for 19 by Amit Mishra versus Pune Warriors at Pune on April 17, 2013. Darren Sammy is the only other Hyderabad bowler to take four wickets in an IPL game -- 4 for 22 versus Punjab at Mohali on May 11, 2013.
By his lofty standards, Steyn has run hot and cold this season. He took 2 for 31 against the Royals. Steyn, with 27 wickets at 21.55 runs apiece in 24 matches, is the top wicket-taker for Hyderabad in IPL. He obliterated the 25 (ave.24.32) in 23 matches by leg-spinner Mishra, who is not yet in top form this season. (Read more)
Imran Tahir Counts on Sub-Continent Experience to Rescue Delhi Daredevils
ÂÂ
South African Imran Tahir, who has been drafted in the side for injured paceman Nathan Coulter-Nile, was the highest wicket-taker in the World Twenty20 in Bangladesh. (Delhi face tough task in must-win game against Hyderabad). He seems confident of rescuing Delhi Daredevils out of the mess they find themselves in during this year's Indian Premier League.
"Wickets are looking the same, even in Bangladesh there were no spin-friendly wickets. I have that experience and it would help," Tahir said after a team practice session recently. Asked about the Daredevils' inexplicable poor show, Tahir said, "I know the team is not doing well. I want to do something for the team. They are working hard, just things are not going their way. But you can't do much into it. Destiny too has a role to play in it. If even if we can win four out of six games, we will be able to justify." (Read more)
