20:26 IST: Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Delhi Daredevils by eight wickets (D/L method). The Sunrisers braved several rain interruptions and revised targets to finally chase down 43 of 5 overs, thanks to cameos from David Warner and Naman Ojha.

20:20 IST: WICKET! Finch falls to Shukla and Delhi sense a victory here. But with Warner in the middle, it could be unlikely. Meanwhile, the IPL final has been shifted to Bangalore.

 

20:10 IST: SRH are chasing 43 off 5 overs here.

 

19:49 IST: And, the rain is back again. This is frustrating. SRH are 17/1 after 2 overs with Warner and Finch in the middle.

 

19:45 IST: WICKET! Big blow for SRH, as Dhawan falls to Kaul in the second over. Warner comes up the order at No.3, instead of Lokesh Rahul and joins Finch in the middle. SRH 13/1 off 1.4 overs.

 

19:42 IST: Play resumes again and the Sunrisers now chase 97 runs of 12 overs.

 

19:36 IST: Meanwhile at the Wankhede Stadium, Chennai Super Kings have won the toss and will bowl against Mumbai Indians. CSK have included Samuel Badree for Ben Hilfenhaus and MI have dropped Ben Dunk and Pawan Suyal and added Lendl Simmons and Praveen Kumar.

19:22 IST: FOUR! Splendid shot from Dhawan, as he slams a short one from Shami. Great placement. SRH are 10/0 off 0.4 overs. Instead of six, the powerplays are five overs and five bowlers can bowl a maximum of three each.

18:45 IST: Delhi Daredevils are 143/7 off their 20 overs. It was another good bowling performance by the Sunrisers Hyderabad as Amit Mishra (2/23), Moises Henriques (2/26), Kumar (1/23) and Steyn (2/20) helped restrict the hosts to an average score at the Feroz Shah Kotla. The Sunrisers were unchanged and asked the Daredevils to bat in bright conditions. Steyn removed Quinton de Kock early but Kevin Pietersen and Dinesh Karthik played smart cameos to add some meat to the total. JP Duminy was again sent way down the order and that allowed the Sunrisers to build pressure on the lesser batsmen.

18:41 IST: WICKET! Kumar castles Duminy off the last ball of what was a sensational over. Just two runs off it too as DD reach 139/6 after 19 overs.

 

18:35 IST: Delhi Daredevils fans have to wonder why JP Duminy, their best batsman, is being held back till so late. Here, he watched as Mayank Agarwal and Laxmi Shukla walked in to bat before him.

 

 

18:30 IST: WICKET! Henriques strikes again to remove another set batsman; this time Shukla holds out to Warner in the deep. DD 132/5 off 16.5 overs.

 

18:27 IST: WICKET! That ball from Henriques did not deserve a wicket but Steyn took a sensational catch to see off Dinesh Karthik for 39 off 30 balls, paving the way for JP Duminy to join Shukla in the middle. DD 128/4 off 16.1 overs.

 

18:18 IST: Karthik does not seem to have been rattled by the hour-long break at all. He slammed Karn Sharma for SIX and FOUR as DD race away to 115/3 off 14 overs.

15:34 IST: Sunrisers Hyderabad have won the toss and decided to bowl vs Delhi Daredevils. SRH are unchanged while DD have made three changes. Parnell, Vijay and Nadeem have been dropped. Imran Tahir, Rahul Shukla and Mayank Agarwak find their way in.

 

Down in the dumps after three consecutive heavy defeats, a beleaguered Delhi Daredevils have no option but to win all their remaining games, starting with the tie against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday to salvage any hope of qualifying for the play-offs of Indian Premier League-7. It is also expected to be a big test for Delhi skipper Kevin Pietersen, who has failed to make an impression so far in this year's IPL.

With just two wins out of eight games, the Daredevils are languishing at the bottom of the points table and only a miracle performance from here on can seal their place in the knock-out stages of the T20 event.

For Daredevils, it turned out to be a nightmarish return to home as they are yet to register a win out of three matches at the capital's Feroze Shah Kotla ground. On the other hand, the Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Rajasthan Royals by 32 runs on Thursday thanks to a great bowling effort from Bhuvneshwar Kumar (4/14), along with some help from Dale Steyn.

If Sunrisers Hyderabad have remained in fray for a berth in the playoffs of the Indian Premier League 2014, it is largely because of their quick bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Dale Steyn. Bhuvneshwar's excellent figures of 4 for 14 vs Rajasthan Royals are the best by a Hyderabad bowler in IPL, eclipsing 4 for 19 by Amit Mishra versus Pune Warriors at Pune on April 17, 2013.  Darren Sammy is the only other Hyderabad bowler to take four wickets in an IPL game -- 4 for 22 versus Punjab at Mohali on May 11, 2013.

By his lofty standards, Steyn has run hot and cold this season. He took 2 for 31 against the Royals. Steyn, with 27 wickets at 21.55 runs apiece in 24 matches, is the top wicket-taker for Hyderabad in IPL. He obliterated the 25 (ave.24.32) in 23 matches by leg-spinner Mishra, who is not yet in top form this season. (Read more)

Imran Tahir Counts on Sub-Continent Experience to Rescue Delhi Daredevils

 

South African Imran Tahir, who has been drafted in the side for injured paceman Nathan Coulter-Nile, was the highest wicket-taker in the World Twenty20 in Bangladesh. (Delhi face tough task in must-win game against Hyderabad).  He seems confident of rescuing Delhi Daredevils out of the mess they find themselves in during this year's Indian Premier League.

"Wickets are looking the same, even in Bangladesh there were no spin-friendly wickets. I have that experience and it would help," Tahir said after a team practice session recently. Asked about the Daredevils' inexplicable poor show, Tahir said, "I know the team is not doing well. I want to do something for the team. They are working hard, just things are not going their way. But you can't do much into it. Destiny too has a role to play in it. If even if we can win four out of six games, we will be able to justify." (Read more)
