20:40 (IST): India claim yet another victory as a horror-tour for West Indies continues. The teams will now head to Visakhapatnam for the second ODI on Sunday, November 24.

 

20:37 (IST): Virat Kohli - When we were fielding, I figured out how the pitch would behave. However, I don't think too much while batting in an ODI. It is nice to have a stadium that is so loud throughout the day.

20:33 (IST): MS Dhoni - It was a fantastic performance, it would have been better if one of our batsmen got a century. The top-order has been batting really well, Virat was brilliant. The crowd at Kochi has been fantastic, we like playing here.

16:55 (IST): Former West Indies pacer Ian Bishop says that the pitch has been a bit 'naughty'. However, he adds that 250 would have been a good total.

15:50 (IST): Suresh Raina finishes with career-best figures of 3/34 in 10 overs. His previous best was 2/17 vs the same opponents in 2011 in Indore.

15:40 (IST): MS Dhoni drops Darren Bravo off Raina, outside-edge and the skipper puts it down. Bravo takes a single and reaches his half-century. Windies 156/5 in 33.3 overs.

15:15 (IST): Lendl Simmons sweeps Ashwin for a six, Bravo drives a four. Windies 143/3 in 27 overs.

14:58 (IST): In his previous four ODI innings vs India, Johnson Charles has scored 60 (The Oval), 97 (Kingston), 45 (Port of Spain) 42 today. India will feel they have got the dangerman.

14:45 (IST): India's spinners are tightening the noose after a brief period when Samuels and Charles were running away with the game. Windies need a strong partnership between Darren Bravo and Lendl Simmons.

 

14:30 (IST): WICKET - Raina gets lucky there, but he won't care. Marlon Samuels (24) attempts a cut but Raina's off-spinner kept low and knocked middle-stump over. West Indies 77/3 in 13.2 overs.

14:25 (IST): That was a much-needed breakthrough for India. The duo had put on 65 runs for the second wicket and were looking dangerous.

 

14:18 (IST): WICKET - Sensational from Jadeja, Johnson Charles (42) edged one straight back to the bowler and Jadeja takes a one-handed diving catch. Windies 65/2 in 10.4 overs.

 

14:00 (IST): Three successive boundaries for Johnson Charles (29*) off Bhuvneshwar. West Indies 41/1 in 7 overs.

 

13:50 (IST): What... a... Shot...! Unadkat pitches one up outside off and Marlon Samuels lifts it with ease for an extra cover six. West Indies 12/1 in 3.3 overs.

 

13:40 (IST): Ouch! Gayle was stretchered off the field after his run out, he seemed to have hurt his knee.

 

13:34 (IST): WICKET -Chris Gayle run out in just the second ball of the day. He dabbed the ball on the off side and set off for the single but the bowler Bhuvneshwar was quicker and the dangerous Gayle had to depart without troubling the scorers. West Indies 0/1 in 0.2 overs.

Dhoni at toss: We were looking to bat first as well. It is humid and the pitch might get slow as the game progresses. We are all fit and there is only one change as Jaydev (Unadkat) comes in for Vinay (Kumar).

 

Bravo at toss: We will bat first. It is a fresh pitch so we will make use of it, it might turn later. We have to be positive and there are new players in the side. It is important to get over the Test series and play some good cricket in the ODIs.

 

13:00 (IST): Dwayne Bravo calls heads and West Indies opt to bat.

 

West Indies will fancy their chances in the shorter format of the game as the three-match ODI series starts in Kochi today. After losing both Test matches by an innings, defending T20 world champions, under skipper Dwayne Bravo will eye a turnaround against a super confident Indian team which has not bluffed a ODI series at home since winning the ICC Champions Trophy in June.

 

The 2-0 whitewash against the Caribbean outfit was the perfect send off for the legendary Tendulkar, who called it quits after serving Indian cricket for nearly a quarter of a century.

 

The emotional curtain call left everyone, including the man of the moment, in tears even taking the focus away from the cricket that was played.

 

The epic farewell is now behind them and the Indians would try and ensure that it is just cricket that is talked about now.

 

The home side already deserves credit for keeping itself focussed on the game in the Tests despite the frenzy surrounding Tendulkar's retirement.

 

The Indians start favourites in the shorter format too with a batting line-up, which is in intimidatingly good form.

 

However, skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni says it would be a mistake to believe that India will enjoy an upper hand against the West Indies in the One-day series just because the Caribbean side has lost the Test series. (Read full story here)

 

The Caribbean side's ODI form has been poor of late, with only seven wins in 20 matches this year. Their record away from home is even worse, with five losses in as many games this year. Their last ODI series win was against Zimbabwe in February.

 

In their previous series in India in 2011-12, the West Indies had lost 1-4. So, they would have to raise their game by several notches in every department to have any chance against the rampaging Indians.

Sachin Tendulkar pavilion at Kochi stadium

In a tribute to batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, a pavilion in his name was declared open by India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium yesterday.

 

The pavilion has many photographs of the Master Blaster, along with an autographed white jersey, an autographed Mumbai Indians bat and other photos depicting his career over the last 24 years. (Click here to read the full story)
