The West Indies batsman failed to get on top of the Indian bowlers as Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja shared six wickets to bundle the visitors out for 211 with seven balls left in their innings. (Dhoni praises spinners)
Raina's 3 for 34 was his best bowling figures going past the 2 for 17 he took against the same opposition back in 2011. He took the wickets of Marlon Samuels, Lendl Simmons and Narsingh Deonarine. His tight bowling ensured that West Indies were unable to step up the run-rate in the middle overs. (Kohli joint-fastest to 5000)
Ravindra Jadeja took 3 for 37 that took him to 49 wickets from 29 matches in the calendar year, the most by any bowler. He went past Saeed Ajmal who has 48 wickets. The most ODI wickets taken in a calendar year is 69 by Pakistan's Saqlain Mushtaq in 1997. Jadeja removed Johnson Charles who was looking dangerous and the crucial wickets of Dwayne Bravo and Darren Sammy. This ensured that the West Indies could not go for the big hits in the death overs. The start for the West Indies was the worst one possible when they lost Chris Gayle run-out for a duck. He injured himself as well and may miss the rest of the series. Darren Bravo was the only one to offer any resistance with 59 off 77 balls. (Match Highlights)
