New Zealand vs India. Bangalore Test - first day's highlights. Ross Taylor, Kruger van Wyk and Martin Guptill were the bright spots for New Zealand while Pragyan Ojha shone for India as Black Caps take the honours on Day 1 of the second Test match.

# Kruger van Wyk (63 not out off 85 balls) has posted his first half-century in Tests.

# Doug Bracewell (30 not out) has posted his second highest score in Tests - his highest is 39 against the West Indies at North Sound this year.

# Martin Guptill has recorded his second fifty against India - his 12th in Tests.

# Guptill's 53 off 79 balls is his second highest Test score against India - his highest is 85 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, 2010-11.

# Brendon McCullum has registered his first duck against India - his eleventh in Tests.

# Pragyan Ojha is the first specialist spinner to open the bowling in a Test match for India.

# Ojha (4/90) has recorded his best bowling performance against New Zealand, taking his tally to 60 wickets at an average of 28.13, including two five-wicket hauls, in 12 Tests in India.

# Bracewell and Wyk put on 82 (unbroken) - New Zealand's highest seventh wicket stand at Bangalore.

# New Zealand have recorded 300 runs or more on the first day of a Test match in India for the first time.

# Ross Taylor (113 off 127 balls) is the second New Zealand skipper to post a hundred in a Test match in India.  Glenn Turner was the first to achieve the distinction - 113 at Green Park, Kanpur in 1976-77.

# Taylor has become the sixth New Zealand captain to register a century in a Test match against India.

# Taylor's above century is his second hundred overseas in Tests - his first was an unbeaten 154 against England at Old Trafford in 2008.

# Taylor's impressive strike rate of 88.97 is the highest by a New Zealand captain in Test Cricket, bettering Martin Crowe's 88.42 (107 off 121 balls) against Sri Lanka at Colombo, SSC in 1992-93. (Minimum 100)

# Taylor's seventh hundred in Tests is his second as captain.  His first century as captain was 122 not out against Zimbabwe at Napier in January this year.

# Taylor's first two centuries against India were 151 at Napier and 107 at Wellington - both in 2009.

# Taylor and Daniel Flynn were involved in a stand of 107 - New Zealand's highest fourth-wicket partnership against India in India.  The said partnership is the fourth highest for the fourth wicket for New Zealand against India.
