India's spin won't be a big bother, feels Graeme Swann

The veteran spinner says it will be more of a mental aspect and that the pitches in India are more traditional than in Dubai where England struggled against Pakistan's Saeed Ajmal.

Ahmedabad:

England's spin option against India has teeth because of Graeme Swann's presence in the side. The spinner himself though is not giving much credibility to his Indian counterparts and has said that his team is ready for trial by spin in the series starting November 15.

In a report published in ESPNCricinfo, Swann has been quoted as saying that the series against Pakistan, when Saeed Ajmal made his team buckle in Dubai, was different because the pitch was unique and the opposition had a mystery bowler - referring to Ajmal. "When we played in Dubai that was not really the subcontinent, that wicket was very unique in the sense that it was very skiddy and span as well. India's wickets are more traditional, more what people are used to, so I would be very surprised if that happened again," he said. "Secondly, we were bowled out by a mystery spinner that batsmen could not pick. India are not really blessed with a mystery spinner like that."

A lot has been said about how India can make England pay by using spinners in the team to inflict pain. Although no leg-spinner has found a place in the side, old war horse Harbhajan Singh makes a comeback. R Ashwin and Pragyan Ojha too find a place in the 15-man squad apart from part-time spinners at the disposal of MS Dhoni.

Swann though has said while his team has been described as weak against spin and 'justifiably so,' it is now more of a mental aspect.
