# Alastair Cook (74 not out) has recorded his 30th fifty in Tests - his fifth against India.
# In third match innings, Cook has posted seven fifties - his tally being 1699 at an average of 49.97 in 38 innings, including seven centuries.
# Since posting a hundred (115) against South Africa at The Oval in July this year, Cook has posted his first half-century in seven innings.
# Cook's captaincy record is impressive, averaging 114.25 in three Tests - his tally being 457 runs, including two hundreds and a fifty.
# Compton and Cook put on 111 (unbroken) for the first wicket - England's second highest at Motera, behind the 124 between Marcus Trescothick and Mark Butcher in 2001-02.
# For the sixth time in a Test match, India have enforced a follow-on on England. India could win three and draw two out of the first five Tests when they enforced a follow-on.
# Matt Prior, thanks to his 48 off 100 balls, is averaging 40.00 against India in Tests - his tally is 480 runs in 16 innings, including a century and three fifties, in ten Tests.

# Pragyan Ojha (5/45) has recorded his first five-wicket haul against England - his fourth in Tests - all in India.

# Ojha became the third bowler to take five wickets or more in an innings for India against England at Motera. His bowling performance is the second best, next only to the 7 for 115 by Anil Kumble in 2001-02. Harbhajan had taken five for 71 in the second innings of the 2001-02 Test.
# England conceded a first innings lead of 330 -their most against India on Indian soil and the second highest in Tests against India. They had conceded a first innings lead of 355 in the 2002 Leeds Test.
