At a time when Australia will be touring India, Ishant Sharma will be flying to Melbourne to fix an injury problem. The Indian speedster needs medical attention on his troublesome left ankle and may not figure in India's squad for the first Test against the Aussies. The same ankle was operated upon early last year.
A second injury-prone Indian fast bowler Varun Aaron will be flying to London to fix a bad back. The Jharkhand lad last played for India in 2011 and managed all of eight Indian Premier League games for Delhi Daredevils in the 2012 championship.
"I will be going to London next week, where I will be meeting a couple of doctors and seeking their advice. They will review the state of fitness of my back and based on that I will take a call on when I should begin bowling," Aaron told the Indian Express. "I have been bowling on and off but haven't bowled flat out. After this consultation I will get a clear picture of my body," he added.
Ishant's injury scare means India's pace attack will be further weakened after Zaheer Khan was earlier ruled out of the Australia series with a calf problem. The Indian squad for the first Test in Chennai from February 22 will be named on Sunday.
However, Ishant has denied the injury reports. He tweeted, "Once again I would like to confirm that I m not injured. Jus going Aus to get my insoles. Avoid the rumors."
