Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has been ruled out of the Bengal team for the domestic Twenty20 tournament - Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy - due to a hamstring injury.
Manoj Tiwary will lead Bengal in their title defence as they take on Baroda in the quarterfinals in Mumbai on Sunday.
Ganguly pulled a hamstring muscle while playing for Marylebone Cricket Club in the Emirates Airline Twenty20 in Dubai on Friday, a team source told PTI from Mumbai.
"He was to join the team today from Dubai. But he has flown straight to Kolkata after injuring a hamstring muscle. He said he would try to join the squad if we make semis... But with the next match being the day after, it appears unlikely," the source said.
Ganguly hit a 20-ball 25 with two boundaries and one six in MCC's 140 for six as Lancashire won the match by four wickets.
The veteran left-hander will lead Pune Warriors in the IPL season 5, beginning April 4.
