Colombo:

The boys might have gone back home, but the girls from England made it to the finals of the Women's World T20 by as they beat New Zealand by 7 wickets in Colombo on Thursday.

Batting first, the Kiwis were restricted for paltry 93/8. Left-hand batter Amy Satterthwaite showed some resistance with her innings of 30 runs, but none of the other batswomen showed any intent.

The English bowlers were on the money right from the beginning bowling a tight line. If that wasn't trouble enough, New Zealand lost captain Suzie Bates in a run out in the fifth ball of the match without anything on the scoreboard.

Spinners Danielle Wyatt and Holly Colvin picked up two wickets each.

England didn't let the momentum slip while chasing as skipper
Charlotte Edwards' 33 runs gave a good start to the team.

Sarah Taylor (22) and Lydia Greenway (21) made sure the team crosses the rope without too much of a trouble with 16 balls to spare.
