Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Yousuf has said that Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq shouldn't be part of the 2015 World Cup squad.
Yousuf also blamed the two stalwarts for Pakistan's defeat in the 2011 World Cup semi-final against India at Mohali.
"We lost that semi-final because of the disappointing batting performances by Younis and Misbah. They didn't play according to the situation," he told Geo News channel.
He maintained that given their previous performances in the World Cup, they should not be selected for the World Cup.
Yousuf also criticized the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shaharyar Khan for publicly showing support for Younis Khan's inclusion in the one-day squad.
"What then PCB Chairman has done is to put pressure on the national selectors to pick Younis even though he is not part of the selector's plans for the World Cup," he added.
The former captain said that Shaharyar should not be making comments on selection issues as it only compounded the situation.
He said when the selectors had dropped Younis for the one-day series against Australia than there was no reason for the PCB chief to make statements on the issue.
He said that the selectors needed to pick a young squad for the World Cup.
